A thousand times this.

Conservative protests are always treated as an organic cry of anger that manifests the distress of the unjustly ignored American heartland; protests from the center-left are always written off as noise from inside the bubble.

Just an appreciation post for Jacob being on the scene. In the absence of this reporting it would have been he-said/she-said. The sheriffs attacked peaceful protestors including kids with flashbangs, tear gas, and rubber bullets. We need more peaceful protest and more documentation on the ground.

Honestly I still can’t stop laughing πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…πŸ€£

Keep this up and we win.

ICE raiding a crowded supermarket in Rosemead, California with no identification, indistinguishable from cartel hitmen, pulling high caliber rifles on unarmed US citizens trying to ask questions about wtf is going on. #3E #StopICE

Wow. Just nailed it.

Truly wild photos coming in from Los Angeles right now.

Genie: ok what do you want for your birthday Trump: a military parade, oh, and also millions of people on the street chanting my name Genie: okie dokie

Remarkable. MSNC: "I want to reiterate this has been 100% peaceful." Seconds later, LA County sheriffs start firing on the crowd. Yet again, "law enforcement" deliberately escalated.

"I have friends nowhere."

The Minnesota assassinations, the attempted arson at Governor Shapiro's home, and the violent arrest of Senator Padilla are all straight out of the Jim Crow terrorism playbook. Same goes with cops aiming for journalists covering the ICE protests. None of these are new tactics, just a new iteration.

I would like my state, every state, to mandate badges, name plates, no masks, for all law enforcement in the state. And if federal agents try to break the mandate, arrest them, then let the courts sort it out.

Absolutely valid general point, though in this instance supposedly the guy had not only an extremely realistic uniform, badge, & gear but also a genuine-looking squad car.

It feels like the national #NoKings events today are an inflection point. More people are seeing what's happening and standing up. It's remarkable. But what are we asking for? Our democracy is broken, and impeaching Trump in 2026 doesn't fix it. 1/n

BREAKING: Shootings reported at homes of 2 Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota. At least 3 people shot, suspect at large bnonews.com/index.php/20...

Jesus suffering fuck, people, this is simple. Do you oppose fascism? Then go protest. Will there be folks you disagree with? Okay, go protest anyway. Will there be folks who are cringe? Protest anyway. This is NOT invitation only. Show up. Raise your voice. Let the fascists know you exist.

As an immunocompromised person, I am likely to be among the first to die in RFK's America.

My political principles in an Andor quote:

"i call for the immediate firing of kristi noem as well as suspension of the agents who attacked our senator, pending their firing as well. i call for a full withdrawal from los angeles and the senate will cease to do business until our demands are met."

I brought breakfast to Philip Seymour Hoffman in his hotel room at 6am. Around 2002 at the Jefferson in Richmond, VA while he was filming Cold Mountain.

Here's something I post from time to time. My answer to a reader who asked me: what could journalists do NOW to break with some of their more corrosive habits.

"Our ongoing research on protests in the US reveals that within the first two weeks of the second Trump administration, protest activity surpassed that of 2017. By the end of March 2025, there had been three times as many protests as had taken place in 2017." wagingnonviolence.org/2025/06/amer...
