how can you be charged with (let alone convicted of) interfering with an officer if the officer isn't wearing a uniform or a badge? to put the same question another way: how can you resist being kidnapped in these United States without running the risk of being charged with resisting an officer?

🚨 I remember when these video's used to go viral! This was Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa yesterday. Could be you next.... Share and stay informed with @volcaholic1

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

Quite a thread. This is Palantir at work; the single most dangerous entity to a free society. And Peter Theil, despite notable competition, is the most evil sonofabitch on the planet.

“A deranged maniac impersonated a police officer and killed lawmakers but if you’re an immigrant be sure you immediately comply with plain clothes people who won’t identify themselves telling you to get in a van”, what a fuckin country

mood

Masked agents in unmarked cars disappearing people from the street and shipping them to a dictator’s prison. Executive branch officials blowing off federal court orders, wrestling members of Congress to the ground and handcuffing them for asking a question. Smells like fascism.

I think California needs to start arresting Feds. drastic but we’re there.

MEMPHIS: “I’M UNDERAGE!” ICE officers forcefully grab a young girl after saying they don’t need a warrant to enter. Trump’s Gestapo busts into homes, grabs anyone? When do police protect people from blatantly unconstitutional raids? @mayorpaulyoung www.facebook.com/share/v/1Bih...

Framing a researcher of how autocracies take hold as democracies die as a prof of government and whining opposition academic at Harvard is not just malpractice but yes an owner-led editorial decision. @washingtonpost.com once had a legacy, Bezos sold it for billionaire pennies.

A friend just asked me what I do to stay hopeful and I told him one of my favorite strategies…I stay hopeful by remembering that no one has any idea what the fuck is going to happen, so as long as we don’t know, we gotta do what we can.

@onthemedia.bsky.social speaks with Márton Gulyás, founder of Partizán, Hungary’s leading independent news show (on Youtube youtube.com/channel/UCEF...), about what lessons journalists in the US might take away from his experience.

MEMPHIS — YESTERDAY: “He’s not a criminal!!” ICE agent clumsily PULLS A GUN on the daughter of a man they grabbed. Original post: www.facebook.com/share/v/12LM...

We don’t need to back off the American Gestapo and we don’t need to respect its agents. People exercising state violence are not entitled to anonymity. Nor are the people directing the state violence.

Weird they're showing Swan Lake on Fox right now

Well done by Attorney Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch. Explain exactly what is happening and explain it in a way that people can easily understand it. The courts being complicit in deceptive practices to pull people out of the immigration court process and into custody is despicable.

Would a civilized country limit health care and food assistance for the poor...

San Diego neighborhood makes ICE agents retreat

If I was a teacher in Texas, I'd be showing the 1956 Charlton Heston movie on continuous loop. What? Fuck you, shoulda been more specific.

Oh I am not shitposting, folks. Stephen Miller, his wife, and Elon are widely rumored to be a throuple. Now Miller's wife is leaving the Trump team to be with Musk & LITERALLY PER THE NEW YORK TIMES Stephen is angrily subtweeting Musk. They actually put it in the paper of record that he was mad

My initial thought when ChatGPT came out is that it's main use was going to be wasting all our time. That's turned out to be pretty accurate. No matter what AI can hypothetically do, in practice it is a corner cutting technology used to save you time while wasting everyone else's time.
