Full employment, withdrawal from Afghanistan, Executive Order 13988 (rescinded by Trump), federal documentation for trans individuals (also rescinded by Trump), 183.6 billion dollars in student loan forgiveness…

Would love to know what data @mattyglesias.bsky.social is looking at when he tells us Dems should not be raising the salience of immigration because the data @gelliottmorris.com is looking at says the opposite.

Sen. Schumer “spoke in front of posters calling the funding bill ‘Well, We're Going to Die Act’ ..” abcnews.go.com/Politics/liv...

"They're breaking the law." "What law?" "You know, vibes and shit."

Chris Murphy: "We can't be preparing for the 2026 election. It might not come. All of our focus right now has to be on protecting the democracy, about stopping the corruption."

The far left, who mostly don't even vote, oppose any policy that isn't a permanent, total victory. The problem isn't that they don't like Democrats, it's that they don't like democracy.

the left was ripping Biden to shreds for inflation as early as 2022, as he was pushing for full employment in the face of bosses howling about labor and product costs. they attacked him for not cancelling student debt, and when he did and the Supreme Court overturned it, argued it was a ruse

What an institutional defense of democratic systems looks like, for those wondering if such things are even possible.

Seems bad

It's so incredible to still see the left accused of moral relativism when every conservative column is just 'yes all of our leaders are bad but the people calling them bad sometimes exaggerate.'

The point of high school sports is teamwork and self esteem. Grown adults booing high school athletes are the assholes 100% of the time. There is no legitimate excuse.

Last year the Supreme Court said courts don't have to defer to federal agency determinations. Last week the Court said actually they do... as long as the agency determination is something the justices like. I wrote about the latest Calvinball from SCOTUS: prospect.org/justice/2025...

I wonder what the intersection of masked men claiming without proof to be federal agents and a Stand Your Ground law looks like.

i don’t think ICE is ready for the growing resentment and anger they’re going to face

This is the thing to do when you see the masked secret police prowling your neighborhood. The cowards will run if you point cameras at them.

The point of politics is progress. Help people. Build a more perfect union. If your attitude is "complete, permanent victory or nothing" then maybe a democratic society isn't for you.

GREAT news for the Seattle folks. Reactionary nutjob Cathy Moore is leaving the council next month.

Increasingly, ICE agents are lawless thugs who will stop at nothing to make their “numbers.”

The real dividing line in all of world politics right now is high trust versus low trust and if the low trust people win the inevitable outcome is mass unemployment, genocide, and autocracy. Like it genuinely is that existential

TOP men

We’re up to at least 97 cases in which district courts have blocked Trump policies—from 73 different judges (appointed by seven different presidents) in 25 different district courts across 10 circuits. Today’s “One First” looks at what critics of these rulings are leaving out of their narratives:
