#JUnit 5.13.1 is released! 🐞 Fix regressions introduced in 5.13.0 junit.org/junit5/docs/...

Seems like I'm a "conference king." Appropriate, especially considering my recent posts 😉 www.jetbrains.com/lp/java-30/a... #Java30WithIntelliJIDEA

Java turns 30 today 🎉🤩 What a journey: From being a #Java tutor at university in the 90s, authoring a book 20 years ago, delivering workshops for 2 decades, to being a technical coach using & promoting the latest Java features. Happy birthday! Here's to the next 30 years! dev.java/community/ja...

"Why do you like speaking at conferences?" 💡 It means ATTENDING conferences. Learning from other speakers. Connecting with like-minded people. It keeps my mind open for the day2day challenges at work. 📚 Preparing a talk means deeply immersing yourself in a topic. It's learning by teaching. (1/2)

A follow-up to @jcon.one – my two finds from the conference: 🃏 Commit Cards for cleaner code. Thank you @rabauer.bsky.social for bringing this to my attention! xdev.software/en/news/deta... 🤖 The session "Practical AI in Java" by @marcushellberg.dev. Most inspiring and motivating 😃 #JCON2025

On my way home after an amazing conference day at JCON EUROPE 2025 😊 Here are the slides for my session "Coaching Models for Technical Agile Coaching": thomas-much.de/presentation... Many thanks to the @jcon.one team for organizing this event! Looking forward to next year 😃 #Java #JCON2025

My workplace today 🤩 #Java #JCON2025

#InfoQ published my article about #FitnessFunctions 🤩 As writing isn't my easiest task, I'm really happy to have finished the text. Thanks to @benlinders.bsky.social for guiding me through the process & providing valuable feedback! What started as an interview turned into a full article. Thanks 😊🙏

. @swardley.bsky.social ’s keynote is live! Watch him explore strategy with Wardley Maps & AI at Agile Meets Architecture, connecting Sun Tzu & John Boyd on navigating change and uncertainty. Watch now on YouTube! youtu.be/hEjjCI3kTM4

No excuse anymore to not bump pipelines to #Java 24 with #JaCoCo 0.8.13 available. Nice.

Back home after a most amazing @amaconf.bsky.social 🤩. After two years as a speaker this time as an attendee – and it was absolutely worth it. So many inspirations from the sessions & the discussions inbetween 😊 It was great to meet you all (again) 🙏. See you next year! #amaberlin #ama2025

What a great closing for an amazing conference: Having dinner with @woodyzuill.bsky.social, who influenced my way of working and getting better together for almost 10 years now 🤩. I'm glad we finally met – thank you 🙏 #ama2025

Made my day: „We do SAFe, but we are agile“ 😅

Once again I've decided not to submit to a conference that requires recording of a promo video. I guess that's just not my style of preparing and submitting conference talks 🤷‍♂️ (Instead, I made progress writing an article about fitness functions, yay!)

Partial #Solar #Eclipse today (max. obscuration in #Hamburg was around 12:17 CET)

Hey #Java, we've come a long way since we first met 😊 3 decades and counting... There is more future than ever in this evolving language and ecosystem 🤩 This ain't your daddy's Java anymore! Maybe a good time to (re)learn it? learn.java #Learn #Java24

As software developers, we thrive on feedback—whether it’s a code review, an architectural discussion, or a team retrospective. But giving and receiving feedback effectively is a skill in itself. That’s why Radical Candor by Kim Scott is a must-read for anyone in software development.

I love doing software architecture; I don't need to be the architect, though.

Published: Environment Branches Harm Quality Environment feature branches were popularised in the 1990s. Since the 2000s, this practice has become increasingly rare because of the awareness of its costs and risks. Yet, some organisations still rely on them. thinkinglabs.io/articles/202...

How does fascism start? "1st step is the combination under an energetic leader of a number of men who possess more than the average share of leisure, brutality, and stupidity. The next step is to fascinate fools [by emotional excitement] and muzzle the intelligent [by terrorism]" – Bertrand Russell

The Axis of Evil now spans from Moscow to Washington. It's sad for the (still) free world to watch a once-so-great nation come tumbling down; to witness how the longest-standing democracy becomes a puppet of oligarchs, autocrats and dictators 😱 Resist!

TIL: #ArchUnit 1.4.0 was released almost three weeks ago 🎉 The new version supports #Java 24, enables the use of @AnalyzeClasses as a meta-annotation, improves performance of transitive dependency checks etc. Unit test your architecture with @archunit.bsky.social! ❤️ github.com/TNG/ArchUnit...

Routine 100% inspection to improve quality is equivalent to planning for defects. — Deming Inspection does not improve quality or guarantee quality. It is too late, ineffective and costly. The quality, good or bad, is already in the product. Quality comes from continuous process improvement.

On my way home from #OOP2025. So many great sessions, so many conversations in the "hallway track", so many inspirations 😊 During the legendary "Pecha Kucha All Night Long" session I talked about "What Yoga Taught Me About TDD and the Like". Find my 20 slides here: thomas-much.de/presentation...

Here are the slides from my session "Fitness Functions for Your Architecture" at #OOP2025 yesterday: thomas-much.de/presentation... Examples from the live coding: github.com/thmuch/archi... Thanks everyone for attending the session so late in the day 😊

On my way to Munich for #OOP2025. Looking forward to many inspiring sessions & conversations 😃 On Thursday afternoon I'll be giving 2 talks: 💪 "Fitness Functions for Your Architecture" (including live coding) 🧘‍♂️ "What Yoga Taught Me About TDD and the Like" (one of the Pecha Kuchas) See you there 👋

Looking back at 2024 ... My "conference life" was unusually quiet. Which is kind of a pity, because these events are great places for learning from each other (and the 5 events where I spoke this year definitely were!). So, let's see what 2025 will bring 😊. 365 days full of possibilities for sure!
