Now best known as a music venue, the Thekla (a 1958 German cargo ship) was opened as an art and theatre space after arriving in Bristol in 1983. Then called the Old Profanity showboat it was owned by Vivian Stanshall of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and his wife, novelist Ki Longfellow.
