I generally try to avoid cutting my subjects in half in photos, but in this case, I kind of liked the look. Made for a nice new desktop wallpaper! #wildlife #birds #owls

Only a fleeting glimpse, but I'm always happy when I capture a healthy cougar on one of my trail cams. #wildlife #TrailCamTuesday

Well this was an unexpected encounter when I was out looking for owls. But I’m totally grateful for it,

"Expanded cougar hunting was 'based on direction from [the] minister last year and input from stakeholders,' according to an internal email... Those stakeholders were limited to members of the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society and the Alberta Tree Hounds Association."

These fox kits were getting a bit tuckered out after all of the rough and tumble play on this evening. #wildlife #foxes

Here's your Friday morning dose of fox kit cuteness. Could see this attack coming from a mile away! #wildlife #fox

This Black Bear was out for an evening walk with her cub. Here she is standing up, likely to see if there were any other bears in the distance who might pose a threat to her and her cub. #wildlife #bear

You've gotta love the playful spirit of fox kits! #wildlife #fox #foxes

Following up on yesterday's post, here's a video of the interaction between the bears and a goose with clips from myself and a fellow photographer. I've removed the sound from the video as it was crazy windy out (as evidenced by some of the shakiness of the footage). #wildlife #bears

This was one of the craziest wildlife encounters I have witnessed. This black bear was out with her cubs when she came across a goose sitting on a nest. Mom and one of her cubs decided to pick a fight with the goose and, to be honest, I wasn't sure who was going to win this confrontation. #wildlife

It has been a good Spring for seeing Great Horned Owlets. This was undoubtedly my favourite interaction. I came around a corner to find myself face-to-face with this youngster and we spent some time checking each other out. #wildlife #birds #owls

Despite his impressive attempt at disguise, I'm fairly confident that this is, in fact, a Columbian Ground Squirrel. I have named him "Lanny." #wildlife
