Evidence and expert advice ignored!? This Government!? Surely not!😉 #nzpol

Appeasing bullies always turns out so well. 🤦‍♂️ #nzpol

Govts failing to accept Waitangi Tribunal recommendations or ensure legislation complies with BORA is nothing new. What is different about this govt is that it again and again openly says it doesn't care about findings against it and makes no attempts at all to address the concerns raised. #nzpol

Chris Hipkins' speech today during TPM penalty debate was an adult speech. Immediately after, the snake / tobacco man Chris Bishop immediately moved to stop & defer further debate #nzpol #kiwi

A solid speech from Chris Hipkins, calling out the government's breaches of parliamentary norms and the treat they pose to democracy. We need to more like this from Labour. #nzpol

Bishop is entitled to his views and there is nothing wrong with critiquing TPM's engagement in the parliamentary process, but this is immaterial to the matters before Parliament today. Decisions should be based on the specific breach of standing orders, not MPs' views about TPM's general attitude.

Missing from the list of contributors to this statement: New Zealand and Australia.

Lack of imagination and refusal to reject the status quo of entrenched ideology—even when provably broken and destroying our future—is the primary reason NZ is currently lost. We’re continuing to sink; treading water, barely staying afloat, at very best.

"Upon taking the top job, Luxon had seven, but last year he began selling a number of investment properties. The register ... shows the Prime Minister’s portfolio has dropped to three properties" How much tax did he get out of paying on account of the changes he made to bright-line test? #nzpol

This govt is dismantling constitutional safeguards and procedurally neutral democratic practices like it’s preparing to end the country as we know it

The end of an era as Tim has no choice but to stop his work with NAA collection data – the kind we used for the Real Face of White Australia project www.realfaceofwhiteaustralia.net 🗃️

I'm struck again by how much Luxon fundamentally doesn't understand the difference between a business and a government and it keeps coming up in the details. Doesn't need to discuss with his caucus, he's made his decision and they'll just follow.

We should be really clear that while this bill is an ACT obsession, the introduction of the bill today – and the rejection of the Waitangi Tribunal's recommendation that govt go back and consult tangata whenua – is also a National and NZ First decision at Cabinet. Not honouring Te Tiriti is on them.

It is remarkable how many opportunities this guy has to be the bigger man and show the leadership the country desperately needs, yet he never seizes the opportunity. His insincts seems to be petty, partisan, divisive, and to punch down. #nzpol

Today Luxon spoke of clamping down of Māorification. It has often been said that Luxon's govt is the most right-wing in decades, without specifying how many. In working this out, it's worth considering that, in the present context, some of Muldoon's actions seem almost woke.

You know that great RNZ article from RNZ’s The House NZers are sharing? It’s still a strong indictment of Collins, but some of it has been watered down. I just happened to have had the old version up when I opened the ‘updated’ one, thinking it was a new story.
