From Hunter S. Thompson’s ESPN page 2 column one week after 9/11.

Let’s be clear, only reason the orange fart even knows about the Nobel Prize is because Obama won it.

At every step in various legal cases against the current president, including 2 impeachments, he was afforded countless privileges & benefits because of his status as a candidate & former elected official. Of course, his admin offers no such consideration to anyone else. www.cnbc.com/2025/06/17/b...

I hate Musk with the heat of a thousand suns, but this should be disqualifying for any politician, especially the president. It's anti-democracy, anti-1st amendment, and just plain obnoxious and wrong. www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...

The best part about this and everything else today is that it will end with both left and right hating Musk and Tesla.

This is Musk’s way of saying, “Never thought board would grow spine, but they did, started looking for new CEO, and said they would fire me unless I stopped doing things that chase away customers.” Of course the board is back to no spine because 1) damage is already done, 2) he won’t stay in line.

Proud to stand with Bruce as well.

That Trump would put his own safety at risk to have a shiny new airplane should tell us all we need to know about how he would prioritize the health, safety, and wellbeing of the rest of us.

So Trump is now basically making the “don’t drink so much Starbucks and eat so much avocado toast” argument but to the entire country. abcnews.go.com/Politics/tru...

This is one way to do it...

The final honor guard for Pope Francis included migrants, prisoners, transgender people, the homeless and others selected by the Vicariate of Rome as a symbol of the late pope’s mission of inclusion and outreach. Read more from the funeral: wapo.st/3YdDGqM

NEW: Read the resignation letter of three federal prosecutors who'd worked on the Eric Adams case: "Now, the Department has decided that obedience supersedes all else, requiring us to abdicate our legal and ethical obligations in favor of directions from Washington." static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics...

Marriott’s CEO said it straight: “We welcome all… we create opportunities for all… that’s who we are as a company.” He went back to his hotel to find 40K emails from Marriott associates worldwide saying “thank you.” Plenty of CEOs talk. Capuano showed up. Marriott still has my business.

For this and a thousand other reasons, polling should be outlawed.

We need CEOs and other business leaders to speak out against the threat our Democracy faces. I outline why, recommend specific actions leaders can take, and provide an example from the Civil Rights era where business leaders overcame fear to do what was right. www.linkedin.com/pulse/its-ti...

You’d think it was an April fools joke posted by @theonion.com but it’s real. We now live in a country where there is more concern about Tesla vandalism than school shootings. x.com/AGPamBondi/s...

So many in America seem to think CEOs have all the answers. If so, then this should raise some serious alarm bells given how strong the economy was just a few weeks ago. chiefexecutive.net/ceo-optimism...

"This is my home - I really love my country. But a lot of my mentors have been telling me to get out, right now" 75% of US scientists who answered our poll are considering relocating. Read the full story: https://go.nature.com/3QS4TLC

Working with an interdisciplinary team, we have developed a website to communicate how the White House's proposed cuts to health research would cause losses of $16B and 68,500 jobs. Find out how your community may be impacted. Explore more at SCIMaP: scienceimpacts.org a 🧵

If you’re upset about the chaos and corruption Trump is inflicting on your country—whether your focus is the nihilistic dismantling of government, the economy, our foreign relations, or his threats to the rule of law—please join the nationwide marches on April 5. Learn more here 👉 handsoff2025.com

This should be top of mind but, sadly, will fall on deaf ears in most of America.

Once again I ask: Do you get it yet, law firms? These orders aren’t isolated threats to Covington or Perkins or Jenner. They’re existential threats to the independence of the legal profession. You’re a fool if you think you won’t be next. Say something. Do something.

@marcelias.bsky.social: "When you're retired and your grandchildren are looking at you, don't you think they will ask what you did? Are you going to tell them you caved to Trump when he was trying to destroy democracy? My message to CEOs, media leaders & law firms is simple: Have some self-respect."

After election I reached out to friends in Europe about visiting positions to get away from chaos. I was humbled at response. After considering options and learning I couldn’t get hoped for two-year leave from UGA, I’ve decided to accept a full time offer from IMD. Moving this summer. www.imd.org

As the teacher in question says, either the sign reflects what is true in that classroom (district) or it doesn’t. There is no neutral here. www.today.com/parents/teac...

No! This is exactly the opposite of how democracy and due process works. No one person decides who gets to stay and go. We have laws, courts, and checks & balances. When the president decides to ignore this and act unilaterally, we no longer have a democracy.

When the economy crashes from this “plan”, Trump will blame his predecessor and, even more so , the countries that fought back against his senseless tariffs, and will use the resulting turmoil to seize even more power to undermine democracy. And his followers will buy it.

Remember when they said COVID protections for public health weren’t worth setting aside why they thought was in constitution? Sure seems like those folks are singing different tune now. Add questioning of legitimacy of Biden’s pardons, etc. and we no longer have constitution if this is stands.

I'm frustrated by the recent attacks on The PhD Project. Perhaps we have to take a minute to remember what they are working to overcome and why their work is important. Have a look at let's have a discussion... www.linkedin.com/pulse/amidst...

The @americanbar.org has released another statement calling out the Trump Administration’s attacks on the rule of law: www.americanbar.org/news/abanews...

Article 5 of NATO treaty, which says attack on one is attack on all, has been invoked one time - following 9/11. Our allies came to our aid without question. After today, I have to assume that would not happen if needed again. The entire world, United States included, is now considerably less safe.

But it’s not his fault. He’s so busy with DOGE, it’s not like he’s actually doing the job of CEO at Tesla, so he can’t be held responsible for crashing sales and stock price.

Geneva airport for the win. Shuttle departed hotel at 6:43. Bags checked and through security by 7:05.

More CEOs speaking out like this would be nice. Griffin voted for Trump, which makes his comments even more important. I get why some CEOs might fear speaking out, but isn't this why orgs like Chamber of Commerce and Business RoundTable exist? Time to step up. www.cnbc.com/2025/02/11/k...
