WATCH-- Sen. Elizabeth Warren says it's time for Krisi Noem to resign following the Alex Padilla confrontation: "She needs to resign.”

#ResistanceRoots Today in history, 1967: The Supreme Court rules in Loving v. Virginia that state miscegenation laws violate the 14th Amendment. The case served as precedent for federal court rulings that restrictions on same-sex marriage are unconstitutional. /1

well he has marines for now, but this seems to raise odds of insurrection act being invoked

Kristi Noem has that rare ability to shoot her dog in the face and it *still* not be the worst thing she ever did in her sorry, lying life.

Great live thread on the hearing in California’s lawsuit seeking to stop Trump’s deputization of the National Guard and deployment of Marines. The judge seemed skeptical of the DOJ’s legal arguments on the National Guard and skeptical of CA’s legal arguments as to the Marines.

Exactly right. The assault on a senator was a crime but Noem’s “liberation” comments were actually even worse.

RESULT: Tuesday's two ballot measures to protect public libraries from the conservative city council in Huntington Beach have both *won.* The first repeals the recently-created 'book review committee'. The second bars privatization of the public libraries. Context:

"Trump has gone farther than any other politician in the tenor and content of his comments, overtly treating events with troops in the audience as campaign rallies, and overtly and directly criticizing his opponents,"

The brutal arrest of a Senator asking a question at a press conference, the threat of Marines being unleashed on the public, and the attack on science are all symptoms of the same illness. When we are punished for asking questions and striving for better, we are no longer free. #Standupforscience

Pedocon isn't a theory, it's just fact

IMPORTANT: Before the fascist attack on Senator Alex Padilla, Kristi Noem said that her gestapo in California were staying to "liberate the city socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country." Don't let that slide by.

“The administration has falsely labeled those taking to the streets in protest of the brutal war on immigrants as ‘rioters’ and called in thousands of National Guard soldiers for a crackdown,” PSL Chicago said. “But we cannot let this repression intimidate us.” thetriibe.com/2025/06/phot...

Not sure how to say this, but even if Padilla hadn’t identified himself (which he did), throwing someone to the ground and cuffing them is a wildly disproportionate and fascist way of dealing with a press conference interruption

If this is how they treat a U.S. senator, Padilla wondered, what are they doing behind closed doors?

This isn’t just about David Huerta. It’s about the right to organize. The right to speak out. The right to be treated like a human. The right to due process. From this rally in Chicago to similar rallies across the country—we won’t back down. #SolidaritySummer

There are so many shocking and depressing events everyday now I just feel overwhelmed by them. But yesterday's hideous and unamerican speech to the troops at Fort Bragg especially disturbed me. It was hardly the worst thing he's done, but it felt like a real kick in the gut, and I was sad all day.

This is how you normalize authoritarianism.

Asked about Padilla, Speaker Mike Johnson said the public "saw a Senator acting like a…” He paused with a smirk before saying, “wildly inappropriate.” A nearby Democrat asked Johnson he meant to say Padilla was “acting like a thug." Johnson didn't respond. time.com/7293667/alex...

Today we mourn, we honor the lives lost & remember that what happened wasn’t random, it was fueled by hate & made possible by a culture that too often dehumanizes queer people while refusing to address gun violence. Grief is a protest. Pride is a prayer. We're still here. #Pulse #NeverForget

HAPPENING NOW: A federal judge is set to hold a hearing on Governor Gavin Newsom’s request for a temporary restraining order that would bar the Trump administration’s use of the state national guard amid protests against immigration raids in LA. Hearing starting now before Judge Breyer 🧵⬇️

House Speaker Mike Johnson calls for the Senate to "censure" Alex Padilla after he was restrained and handcuffed by FBI agents at Kristi Noem's presser, adding that it is "wildly inappropriate behavior." So it looks like Republicans want to escalate this!

Longer video of the forcible removal, detainment, and arrest of Sen. Alex Padilla by the Trump regime during a DHS press conference. Footage provided by Sen. Padilla's team.

Don't let them lie to you about Senator Padilla. DHS is claiming the agents DID NOT KNOW he was a senator. He CLEARLY says (BEFORE he is tackled and cuffed) "I am Senator Alex Padilla and I have a question for the secretary."

This is a four alarm fire for democracy. The Homeland Security secretary is vowing to "liberate" Los Angeles with the U.S. military as a U.S. Senator is dragged away, tackled and handcuffed.

It feels like we are crossing Rubicon after Rubicon in America’s descent towards authoritarianism. Now is the time for those Republican Senators who have concerns - and they do exist - to speak up about how their colleague Alex Padilla was handled.

“ICE” as snatching people from churches now. Never forget they said this👇🏾 MAN AT CHURCH: “We don’t want this in our property.” ICE: “The whole country is our property.” No IDs shown, non-government out of state plates, basic tactical vests that just say police. Who are these men?

As Harold Meyerson points out, the No Kings protests have taken on new significance in the last week, coming on the anniversary of the day that the U.S. raised an army to defend itself against an alien force seizing Americans to suppress their right to home rule. prospect.org/politics/202...

Trump "is preparing American soldiers to see themselves as heroes when they undertake operations inside the United States against unarmed people, including their fellow citizens," writes @timothysnyder.bsky.social open.substack.com/pub/snyder/p...

I am begging experts to share real-world examples of fascism being defeated through non-violent means, once it's gotten to the arrests and troops-on-streets stage, because I am coming up on empty on this one.

Senator Padilla cuffed on the ground for trying to ask Noem a question… 😳🇺🇸

Wow. California Sen. Alex Padilla is wrestled and detained by federal officers after showing up to DHS Sec. Kristi Noem's press conference in LA. (video from Bill Melugin of Fox News)

The state of California needs to arrest the DHS "security" forces for assault and every Democrat in the U.S. Senate needs to sign onto a campaign to impeach Kristi Noem. Right fucking now.

This is awful. And it could be a harbinger of what happens in the horse-racing industry, where the vast majority of backstretch workers are immigrants.

RFK Jr’s ACIP pick, Martin Kulldorff, said one of the most disturbing images from the pandemic was a toddler crying about having to wear a mask. I see toddlers cry about everything all the time, and I found it far more disturbing to see refrigerator trucks full of body bags outside of the hospitals…
