I got started with Promise Mascot Agency yesterday, and it definitely got its hooks in me. Played 7 hours straight before I finally had to make myself eat. Part visual novel, part business management, part Forza Horizon with a beater truck. Very quirky and very well written.

I'm thrilled to share a new JCGT paper, "GPU Friendly Laplacian Texture Blending." It uses simple image processing and computational photography techniques to smoothly blend/layer textures and materials while preserving local contrast and texture details without ghosting or over-blurring. 1/3

You can use the depth buffer with a bump offset function to mask sprites by depth and conform them to the geometry. This is especially convenient for dynamic fake light, UI elements, character damage effects… #realtimeVFX #UnrealEngine #gamedev #vfx
