This was today… Sotally tober… NYT clearly way off base…

If you missed yesterday's @theplantcell.bsky.social webinar on Translating Research from Arabidopsis to other systems, it was GREAT! A recorded is embedded in the blog post blog.aspb.org/may-30-plant.... Key point: Arabidopsis is small, inexpensive, fast, and continues to be a stellar model. 🌱

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/30/o...

Nigel Farage’s poison is not welcome here. We can stand together and say: not in our name. Whichever party you backed in the past - let’s unite to reject racism, protect our NHS and choose decency. Next Thursday, to stop Farage, #VoteSNP in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse.

350 new jobs. Major investment secured. Fuel cells for hydrogen electric planes built here in Scotland. ZeroAvia’s decision to build a new Hydrogen Centre of Excellence in Renfrewshire is great news - a real vote of confidence in Scotland’s economy and our talented workforce.

Cis people are no longer free. It isn't only bc of the attack on trans ppl, but so long as this sustained attack on trans lives exists, cis ppl ARE NOT FREE. We will be murdered, denied medicine, disenfranchised. But the gov't already has taken control of cis TV remotes. Is nothing sacred to you?

The SNP will confront Nigel Farage, not cosy up to him. With independence, people in Scotland would always be in charge of our future, not Westminster governments that ignore our values. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Can’t help but think the current trend of damning ‘net zero’ is mainly down to the super-wealthy and their chums in the corporate media worried about losing their obscene profits from burning fossil fuels. Sod clean air, it’s profits that matter.

"A teaching and training framework to promote findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) data generation in agriculture" Excellent, free, online curriculum!! This is so needed. Please share widely. academic.oup.com/database/art...

My prediction for tomorrow is Labour will get hammered at the locals, and then, rather than start working to implement policies which actually help people and combat Reform, they are going to shift even farther to the right and carry on attacking marginalised groups, thereby benefitting Reform.

My eldest daughter Claudia once asked me why there isn’t a provision that says that convicted felons can’t be president and this was *exactly* my answer

Good takedown by Steven Colbert. youtu.be/ihHU3IVVrfM?...

SIGNAL GATE is a threat! The incompetence that many of us knew existed prior to the confirmation of these individuals is on full display for the WORLD & it’s weakening US, collectively. The fact that there is an obsession over wanting me silenced tells me that I need to speak out more. 🫶🏾

Trump's golf course in Turnberry, Scotland was redecorated by anti genocide protestors. #FreePalestine #EndImpunity

Oooh back to editing again thanks to my mrs dragging me out of the house to go to Lisbon. A view under the amazing and great 25th April Bridge, a scene up by the castle in b&w, another with a lovely orange skip then yippee it's disco peacock

Today I visited the Museum Aljube Resistência e Liberdade in Lisbon. It's a fascinating and chilling look at the period of Facism and the police state that gripped Portugal for 50 years, until it was overthrown in 1974. I snapped a few particularly pertinent displays (1/4) www.museudoaljube.pt

We also spent a beautiful day exploring this lovely, lively city. Lisbon is luscious. Peacock photo by @tomclearwood.bsky.social .

I just discovered that the Dec 2024 issue of CBE - Life Science Education is a Special Issue on Equity, Inclusion, Access, and Justice. www.lifescied.org/toc/lse/23/4. Bookmark this important collection of articles. The issue starts with a powerful statement from the US National Academies 👇

This is Jerry Lawson. He invented the video game cartridge for the Fairchild Channel F system. Because of his invention, many consoles had cartridges and CD formats and would become the norm. The Atari 2600, NES, Genesis, and many consoles wouldn't exist without him. Happy Black History Month.

Well done, @humzayousaf.bsky.social, for calling out the disgusting statement made by Michael Gove to his face. 👏

Know thy enemy is stupid as fuck.

Not the people of Scotland Kemi dear.

Labour’s record:- No resources to match the Scottish Government’s £500 million Just Transition Fund for the North East. No investment for Scotland’s Acorn carbon capture project, but cash given to England. Withdrawal of £900 million for supercomputer at Edinburgh university.

This is why we are not "Better Together", and in Scotland we need to look after ourselves, no-one will do it better #ScottishIndependence

We think that ultra-rich individuals or foreign state actors should not be able to use their money to give unfair advantage to a political party in order to further their own agenda. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...

Only the UK has no fixed size for its 2nd chamber, with representatives that are appointed purely by the governing party – for life. yes.servepics.com/whod-invent-...

Here's a happy thing at my keyboard: no more Microsoft Windows. I've been an intense user since Windows 3.1 in the early nineties and it's been great to see it develop but.. I just can't take the cataract of AI crap and the bullying and trickery that's the contemporary user experience in Windows.

I have been an indy supporter for some time.

I may not have a high opinion of King Charles visiting a foodbank in Alloa.

Good / shocking talk by Sara Lopez Gomillon about diversity in plant sciences. Are white men really so good at plant science that it's ok they should write 70% of the things cited in teaching material? #PlantSciEd

For some in the UK, there might be hope www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/12... Support for Scottish independence is growing fast, and Farage is tipping the balance.

The least self-aware person on the planet.

Something to look at in the new Republic of Scotland. It doesn't have to be like this.

“The measure of a society is found in how they treat their weakest and most helpless citizens.” - President Carter
