I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE. Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it. Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

Folks, I won’t sugarcoat it. This is gravely concerning. Leaked internal reports indicate that FEMA is just not ready for hurricane season. I am demanding answers. We don’t have time to waste on this.

Definitely going to get worse. And this is how we push back.

Jonathan Joss was Comanche and Apache and an openly gay actor. He was murdered while looking at the remains of his dogs at his own house that was burnt down. The killer yelled homophobic slurs before shooting him. This is the real world consequences of the hatred that the right commodifies

This statement from Jonathan Joss's husband is heart breaking. No, headline writers, he wasn't "killed in an argument with a neighbor." He was *deliberately murdered* for being gay right after his dog was decapitated. Bet the murderer calls himself a "Christian." THIS is why Pride is important.

Americans don’t trust these news sources — but they keep using them wapo.st/4mA3LdY

Go Missoula!

I thought this story was horrific, but realizing it was an actor I long enjoyed only made it worse. My God.

I'm not the first person to point out that you can't even Onion this

More than a century after the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921, one of the most horrific episodes of racial violence in U.S. history, the city’s mayor announced a $105 million reparations package on Sunday. It is the first large-scale plan committing funds to address the impact of the atrocity.

I’m glad this made the Times.

Pride represents more than celebration. It's an ongoing commitment to justice. As we honor this legacy, let's continue building bridges toward full acceptance and ensuring every person feels valued for exactly who they are. #Pride2025 #EqualityForAll

open.substack.com/pub/paulkrug... Scott Bessent says that America should be more like Florida and less like NY. @paulkrugman.substack.com.web.brid.gy brings the data (and some sass, like any good New Yorker) for comparison.

Law enforcement officers should never cover their faces when making arrests or conceal their identities (unless they are working undercover). They work for us. We have a right to know who they are. These face coverings are frightening & unAmerican, as though they're ashamed of what they're doing.

Margaret Brennan totally exposes FDA Commissioner Makary for making it up as he goes and making conflicting recommendations in order to cast doubt on covid vaccines. He's so terrible during this interview that Brennan is left shaking her head as she wraps it up.

A radical transformation of our way of life is underway. Don’t let anyone gaslight you into thinking this administration is normal.

In a healthy information environment, this would be front-page news.

Chris Murphy on Joni Ernst: "I think everybody in that audience knows they're going to die, they would just rather die in old age at 85 or 90 instead of dying at 40. And the reality is that when you lose your healthcare, you are much more at risk of early death."

There's a plague of mediocrity in contemporary fiction, and I think it stems from a couple of things: 1. Trying to do social commentary instead of a novel. 2. Too much influence of academic/critical theory-speak on the language and themes. 3. Books simply being too short and thinly drawn, with/

How bad will it be? Catastrophic. Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come. But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget. Speak up now before it is too late. (inflation adjusted $-s below)

The White House seems to think its funny that Chief of Staff Susie Wiles phone was hacked. Any idea how you can hack Signal? Yeah…funny thing that. My latest and the last day of our paid upgrade sale!
