This is what Jason Miyares thinks will garner him votes in the November AG election. Let's let him know that this does not make Virginians any safer and in fact, does the exact opposite. Spread this message far and wide - this does not protect our children. www.attorneygeneral.gov/taking-actio...

Opinion | A deranged Republican shot two lawmakers and their spouses over the weekend. But my colleague who I assume is a Democrat wrote the word "womxn" in a Slack thread. I have never felt more politically homeless.

🧵 IMPORTANT ACTION ALERT The Department of Energy (DOE) is trying to get rid of important rules of Section 504! DOE is trying to change the rules that new buildings must be accessible to people with disabilities. Please make your voice heard and say “no” to these changes.

Every House & Senate member should have USCP protection— even if it’s only one USCP member. As tribalism, dehumanization and disinformation escalates, it’s time to accept the reality that fantasy and ignorance is a violence multiplier. The added benefit— USCP can stop ICE from assaulting members.

NEW: A court-appointed federal monitor has found that an NYPD unit championed by Mayor Eric Adams has been unjustly stopping and searching New Yorkers, almost all of them Black and Hispanic men, echoing the findings of a recent ProPublica investigation. By @ericumansky.bsky.social‬

🧪 ⚛️ No surprise here.

Of course not!

We won’t amplify it, but the president posting that Dems are “sick of mind” and “hate our country” immediately after 2 Dem lawmakers and their spouses were shot in their homes is the opposite of leadership. Gas on the fire.

There is not one thing that this administration is doing to better our lives. Not. One. Thing. Every bill passed into law, every department shut down is to make us sick, poor, hungry, homeless, jobless and hopeless. Polluting our water, food and air is cherry on top of shit sundae

In serious countries that are actual democracies, strong mainstream parties force members who do stuff like this to resign, & far right authoritarian parties that do this are shunned from government. Here in 🇺🇸, one of our two parties has collapsed into far right authoritarianism. So neither happens.

Reminder: Republicans are facilitating a massive transfer of wealth to the richest Americans while making cuts that would rip away healthcare and food from millions of people. It's Robin Hood in reverse.

If passed, the SAVE Act would limit access to our democracy for millions of eligible voters. The House has already passed it, but the Senate can still stop it in its tracks. Tell your Senator to REJECT this bill in defense of our voting rights.

It’s hard to escape the dawning realization that part of the goal of Google’s AI Overview is to simply eradicate the concept of anyone else having any kind of website at all. Why click on a link & explore when Google told you the answer & you didn’t know it was wrong?

Trump’s racism knows no bounds. He said Sen Alex Padilla “looked like an illegal” while Padilla was handcuffed & clearly identified. That’s not a mistake—it’s a full-throated endorsement of racial profiling, state violence, & white supremacy. Keep calling out his vile rhetoric. tinyurl.com/y5ed6axt

@rhappe.bsky.social A thread ICYMI

🤔

This is huge. The Trump administration wants to vastly expand the practice of shipping people to random countries they have never been to before, and are now making this part of a threat; either the countries accept taking third country nationals, or they get banned from visas.

To those who still somehow say you’re overreacting to say we are far past the point of historic crisis, go back to summer 2024 and say that in less than a year the president of the United States would be deploying the literal Marines on American soil to deal with and intimidate his political enemies

Too many folks desperate to protect the Army are making it too easy for GOP not to jump ship. Diminishing yesterday's public humiliation with excuses - "our Army doesn't parade" - weakens the jolt needed to bust loose 30 (R) MoC. Stop it. Make them hold that stove.

I don't see that @deadder.bsky.social has shared this here yet.

"What’s missing is moral clarity—a more profound sense of why we are building these technologies, and for whom. We need something more enduring than a risk framework: a moral lighthouse."

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

MAGAs are so morally broken that they can't even bring themselves to condemn the assassinations of Democratic politicians in their homes. They would rather push an asinine false narrative than be decent human beings.

The administration's criminalization of Dem politicians for being Dem politicians is designed to produce exactly this outcome. Their celebration & pardon of white vigilantes is designed to produce exactly this outcome.

Veterans are speaking out. Trump’s use of Troops against Americans isn’t leadership—it’s an abuse of power. We served the Constitution, not a king, a bully, or a dictator. Watch and share these powerful words from those who’ve worn the uniform.

Every good person in America has all the evidence they could ever need that Donald Trump poses a clear and present danger to our democracy and must be legally and peacefully removed from power using the processes we already have for doing so. At this point, those who object are simply bad people.
