This is what Liverpool winning the Premier League looked like last time, and what it looks like now. I'd say that second picture is slightly more aligned with the dreams of every Liverpool fan over the last three decades.

My new favorite stat of the season

PGMOL owe Villa a lot of money.

Best argument against the refs being corrupt when it comes to Liverpool is that they’re still shit to us even when there’s nothing at stake.

WHO: 94% of Gaza Hospitals Damaged or Destroyed

Whoever did that, knows academia far too well.

Hard to believe they’re talking about the same event.

Again, I’d like to live in a world where Dr Strangelove is no longer relevant.

They basically did this, except meant to be serious.

Hello this is completely insane. If i go rob a bank now can I just say oh, I was sidestepping the law against taking someone else’s money.

Every time you buy a Harry Potter product, you are financing the dismantling of trans rights

this entire paragraph is Stephen Pinker openly saying, "I think race science is real and correct."

Fact 1 "The spectacular acceleration in global renewable investment is, in fact, a story about 1 country: China" Fact 2 "The renewable share of new capacity additions in electricity generation worldwide is 90%" -Tooze Why are these 2 facts not known broadly? adamtooze.substack.com/p/chartbook-...

The real problem with the Supreme Court’s expected Fed carve out is not that it lacks a principle but that the real principle isn’t articulated. The reason it will carve out the Fed is functional but it won’t say that. And its jurisprudence doesn’t leave room to ventilate the functional arg.(1/8)

Gaza aid is mere ‘teaspoon’ of what is needed, says Guterres, amid widening starvation and destruction across enclave.

Last night Russia attacked a European capital with ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones. Today the story barely registers in international news headlines. Western normalization and acceptance of Russian atrocities in Ukraine is what makes them possible.

Thank God Biden and the Democrats were responsible and didn’t pack the court 🙄

Stunning. May was brutal for Trump in federal court: 96% loss rate ⚖️. Even GOP-appointed judges have ruled against the admin 72% of the time. District courts are doing their job defending the Constitution. Soon the Supreme Court may be the only court unwilling to defend the rule of law.

📢 Here is a step-by-step review of what happens to the big terrible bill now that it's through the House, outlining the best ways to resist it at this point 👇

Under the bill passed by the House, those in the US earning LESS than $17,000 will LOSE $1,000 a year, the top 0.1 per cent of taxpayers will gain nearly $400,000 a year. How sick is that? And 8.6 million people will lose their Medicaid coverage. This is like a death sentence for many.

Who the fuck cares. This is not the reason this is upsetting.

Make no mistake: the West Bank is next. www.newarab.com/analysis/how...

There is so much awful, regressive shit packed into this bill. www.huffpost.com/entry/house-...

mock the administration all you want, it is rather a remarkable achievement to render Harvard sympathetic. www.wonkette.com/p/kristi-noe...

JUST IN | Palestinian Health Minister: 29 Have Died of Starvation in Gaza in Recent Days Palestinian Health Minister Dr. Majid Abu Ramadan says 29 people—mostly children and elderly—have died of starvation-related causes in Gaza in recent days, warning that thousands more are at risk.

Again, Trump truly seems to think the firm is the ideal model of government. He’s doing everything he can to make himself the dictatorial boss of the fucking country.

Palestinians in Gaza received long-awaited aid trucks into the enclave, but UN officials say the amount allowed through by Israel is far from enough.

Note the line about rooting out the "evils of anti-Americanism in society" (separate from universities, no connection to foreign students, etc.). They decide who and what is "anti-American." Threat could not be clearer.

Israel's Operation Iron Wall has displaced over 50,000 Palestinians and seen entire refugee camps emptied, redrawing the map of the occupied West Bank ⬇️

Is there a bigger piece of shit in Chicago than that guy right now? [I’m assuming Rahm Emanuel spends most of his time on the east coast, so not counting him.]

This is what an authoritarian regime would do. Hidden deep in Trump’s 1,100-page bill that passed the House today is a provision that would block federal courts from enforcing contempt charges against government officials who violate court orders.

The reactions among elite academics to these attacks on their institutions and students really kind of highlight why so many people—even many academics outside those institutions—kind of hate them. (Obviously not defending the attacks, but don’t need to reiterate the reasons why they’re terrible.)

Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

Tell me: if these dudes show up with guns in an unmarked van to grab someone, why don’t the Second Amendment fans think they should be shot?

Literally sickening www.nytimes.com/2025/05/22/o...

I'm worried the answer won't matter, but do they have any possible legal authority to do this?

"There is no way to understand this except as a way to keep the Trump administration from being restrained when it violates the Constitution or otherwise breaks the law." www.justsecurity.org/113529/terri...

It should never have been that close.

Race animates a lot of ICE/CBP, but I can't stress enough how—as with all law enforcement—a key factor is sheer *laziness*. They're not tracking down drug gangs, they're going for the easiest targets they can find. Official hearings (citizenship, court, etc) are fish in a barrel to run numbers up.

If they were still working for the Israeli embassy at this point in the genocide, it’s a stretch to call them advocates for peace. forward.com/fast-forward...

i think it should be a bigger story that the president held a meeting with a foreign head of state where he ranted about the most gutter white supremacist propaganda you can find on the internet

I'm not interested in smart ass comments this morning. If this bill moves forward as is, there are thousands of people who will die because of it. This is a deadly serious thing. If your coping mechanism is sarcasm or detached cynicism, keep it out of my mentions or you will be immediately blocked.

You can tell it's a Republican bill because if it was a Democratic bill the headline would highlight the $3.8 capital-T Trillion it is adding to the federal deficit in the most breathless terms imaginable, and the entire article would be devoted to wondering how it would ever be paid for.

I promise you the White Christian nationalist regime staffed by neo-Nazis doesn’t give a single shit about the safety of American Jews. Let’s not pretend they do.

AOC: When you wake up in the morning, you will realize that you voted to defund planned parenthood and take away health care from 13.7 million Americans and when this country wakes up there will be consequences to pay for this
