Last Friday (5/9), a computer issue suspended all BART service from before 5am until after 9am. While service was restored before the end of the morning rush, the resulting traffic impacts were felt for the rest of the day, showing just how important BART is and why we need to protect its future 1/5

“It is great to see transit supporters all around this large state raising up the need to keep transit running and demanding that Governor Newsom lead,” said Adina Levin, Executive Director, Seamless Bay Area. cal.streetsblog.org/2025/05/14/b...

Yesterday, riders across California demanded that @gavinnewsom.bsky.social adequately fund public transit! Banners were unveiled in 10 cities across the state. Join us in supporting the request for more statewide transit funding by writing a letter here: buff.ly/itlTPae

Yesterday advocates across CA, from Arcata to LA, including many DSA members, executed coordinated banner drops demanding Gavin Newsom fund public transit. Transit agencies like Muni, BART, and Caltrain are facing fiscal cliffs and are considering service cuts to balance budgets.

WHOA! So today, Californians in: Arcata Davis Napa Martinez San Francisco Berkeley Hayward San Mateo San Jose Santa Cruz and two spots in LA Dropped banners calling on @governor.ca.gov to fund transit. Wow. Transit is key to just communities, economic growth, and a stable climate. FUND IT!

Want more bus service in California? Tell Gavin and your state reps to fund transit! actionnetwork.org/letters/fund...

Ok, at this point I'm wondering where we're gonna see a banner up next. Redding? Truckee?

San Jose speaking out for transit!

We are seeing pro-transit banners go up all over the State asking @gavinnewsom.bsky.social @governor.ca.gov to fund public transportation service! We have never seen a coordinated action statewide like this for transit. Check it out!

Round up of the banners we've seen so far telling @gavinnewsom.bsky.social to fund transit.

We were emailed this pic of a @gavinnewsom.bsky.social fund transit banner in NAPA! Send some love to @nvta-ca.bsky.social !

Reminder -- without state funding, Bay Area freeways are going to clog even worse. actionnetwork.org/letters/fund...

👀 It looks like there were banner drops all over the state this morning calling on @gavinnewsom.bsky.social to properly fund public transit. I am here for it. Newsom announced the May state budget revise drops tomorrow. That would be a good time make it clear he intends to, indeed, fund transit.

A member texted this in -- spotted in Martinez! A @gavinnewsom.bsky.social: Fund Transit banner

A day before Gov. Newsom releases the May budget revision, transit advocates across the state have hung banners on freeway overpasses, urging him to fund public transit. A banner over the S.F. pedestrian bridge crossing at Utah/18th streets, via Fund California Public Transit.

And there it is. San Francisco says @gavinnewsom.bsky.social fund transit. Thanks Rishav for sharing the photo So before tomorrow's State Budget announcement, banners went up in SF, LA, Hayward, Berkeley, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz saying some version of "Gavin: Fund Transit" Love to see it

My home town making me proud! Even in the peninsula suburbs people demand funding for public transit. @gavinnewsom.bsky.social, are you listening?

Wait, so that's San Mateo, Hayward, LA, Santa Cruz, and Berkeley? There's got to be an SF one out there, right?

Jeez, how many of these are there?

That's great! Glad to see LA is speaking out for transit

Italy is expected to have 80% of its railway electrified by 2026, but California is far behind. What can CA learn from Italy's rail modernization program? Join us and @seamlessbayareaca.bsky.social on May 21st at 6 pm to hear from @chittimarco.bsky.social about how! actionnetwork.org/events/what-...

Really solid coverage of Friday's transportation crisis. The Bay Area depends on BART and our bus systems; we must fund transit! www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco...

A @bart.gov outage for a few hours is terrible -- a permanent 85% cut to service would be a catastrophe and unless @governor.ca.gov & our state reps step up and funds transit this year, we're looking at major service cuts to BART, Muni, AC Transit, Caltrain + more actionnetwork.org/letters/fund...

If California funded transit, we'd have more service and more reliable service! Tell your state reps to fund transit! actionnetwork.org/letters/fund...

This morning, the Bay Area got a glimpse of what life will be like without BART. But if the California State Legislature and @governor.ca.gov don't fund public transit in this year's budget, the situation will get much, much worse. #fundtransit @scottwiener.bsky.social @caspeakerrivas.bsky.social

Just asked a California transit manager if the state's Zero Emission Bus mandate is causing them to run less service than they otherwise would. He said: "Yes, definitely." A diesel bus only has to get 4 ppl out of cars to be better for the planet than an electric bus. Hmm.

Job alert! Come work with me leading a powerful coalition of advocates changing the landscape of transportation policy in California! cal.streetsblog.org/2025/05/07/i...

Want to get more state funds for transit in California? Help pass out flyers this weekend to spread the word in Vallejo! Locals will be joined by a crew of folks taking the ferry from SF to Vallejo for an afternoon of transit advocacy & fun. Check it out lu.ma/1c7vajbe?tk=...

Mobility is a right—so why is it denied to so many? For immigrants and refugees in California, simply walking to the bus stop or riding a bike to work can carry outsized risks: racial profiling, over-policing, and the constant threat of detention. (A brief thread)

Wanna help support transit throughout California? Help pass out flyers this weekend to transit riders in Vallejo! Details here lu.ma/1c7vajbe?tk=...

San Mateo Daily Journal would like to know "what do you think should be done to solve traffic issues at 92/101?" So far "New buses, shuttles and ferries" is in the lead! Check it out www.smdailyjournal.com/opinion/

Seamless Bay Area has done a marathon day of coverage on the 2026 transit funding measure, which was up for discussion today at Caltrain, VTA, and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority. Worth checking out all of their threads for crazy twists like this!
