Kind of wild that the New York Times has more sympathy for an influencer who posted child porn than it does for trans children who want to be left alone.

This is a secret police force to match 20th century Europe

For the record:

If Musk were an efficient political operative he'd know he doesn't need to "create a new party for the 80%". With his cash he could easily fade into the background and create one without ever saying he is by buying up both Republican and Democratic primary contests. That's how US politics works.

For those who want it in simple terms, one of the people in charge of ensuring the UK respects human rights for everyone has said some people should accept having fewer rights.

Having spoken to an MP myself as a result of one of the letters sent after the SC ruling, I can attest to the impact that these letters make. MPs, for all their faults, *care* when hundreds or thousands of letters pour in on an issue. Our last letters had an impact. These will too. Get signing!

Sure but if you aren't fighting for people's attention by, say, taking advantage of a giant public display of chaos and incompetency, then no one is going to hear your measured discussion about health insurance

Do folks like Kevin realise that when they unjustifiably turn criticisms of someone's lack of rhetorical skill into a class issue, they're the ones introducing classism into the equation?

i love it when a public figure is shite at something and columnists come out of the woodwork to declare that being shite at stuff is working-class coded

EHRC Commissioner - "Stop fighting back, it's making it harder to stab you."

The #EHRC Chair must be a credible, impartial arbiter of human rights - with a clean record on equalities. Mary-Ann Stephenson cannot be that person. Read our full statement 👇 www.prideinlabour.org.uk/post/labour-...

Ukraine destroys military bombers. Russia responds by throwing bombs at civilians. Just in case anyone needed a reminder of the moral balance of this conflict.

Anyway this seems to be the moment to remind everyone the ehrc lost their attempt to make protesting their london hq illegal

NEW: Labour councillors joined Tories to vote AGAINST prohibiting arms manufacturers from using public parks in Edinburgh to test equipment It comes after Leonardo tested its equipment in the Braid Hills area last year, prompting public anger www.thenational.scot/news/2521857...

For too many this isn't an accidental misunderstanding, it's either deliberate misrepresentation or determined ignorance bred by contempt

So much manufactured outrage against queer folk in the culture wars, boils down to cis/het folk blithely strolling into queer spaces and queer conversations and completely misunderstanding them. Let me explain 1/

"I'm afraid all the work I've put in to harm trans people has, so far, been very successful. I'm very sorry that I succeeded in exactly what I set out to do."

dude you won't believe it. that violently insecure mad king? he had a falling out with that super annoying failed jester he made grand vizier

This is such a profound summation of our global moment I can hardly process it.

John Swinney pledges to do the opposite of what he's been doing for the past year of ditching every major plank of hope and optimism his predecessors had set in motion.

I guess the SNP's non-existent program for government in which they dropped pretty much everything that could distinguish them from Labour this year didn't work out for them

It is absolutely intolerable that the Labour Government has another committed transphobe as their preferred candidate as new head of the EHRC. I rather doubt that the Women's and Equalities Committee has even been consulted.

The past 6 weeks showed how many people can mobilize for trans rights. Now we have to put it to good use. Absolutely *flood* the WEC and your MPs with letters excoriating this pick. Tell them it's unacceptable. Tell them to reject the pick outright as obviously flawed.

"On Tuesday, a Palantir employee threatened to call the police on a WIRED journalist who was watching software demonstrations at its booth at AI+ Expo." New from @carolinehaskins.bsky.social www.wired.com/story/palant...

Breaking news: The sell-off erased $153bn from Tesla’s value, the biggest one-day drop in the electric-car company’s market capitalisation on record, and comes as Donald Trump threatens he will terminate US government contracts with Musk’s companies. www.ft.com/content/a14f...

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

"It raises the question of what Musk will do with his significant wealth in the next elections..." He won't have any significant wealth if Trump targets Tesla and SpaceX, both heavily reliant on Government policies, and burns them to the ground.

It's quite something that The Guardian doesn't even have an article about the Hamilton by-election today on its Scotland page

I didn’t think this was real

Musk doesn't have the self control not to go to war with Trump whilst his twitter bros are cheering him on and Trump is a wannabe dictator who's willing to use executive power just for personal spite. Prediction - unless he is scared into backing down Musk is going to get flattened.

So despondent about the state of the UK that the accelerationists are looking reasonable

Honestly hoping that Labour come a distant third in Hamilton. At this point every Labour Parliamentarian needs the fear of being made imminently politically meaningless instilled into them. Abandoned by every demographic they once cared to stand for and have betrayed.

I could not have imagined that within a decade of moving here in 2014, in the midst of the victory on equal marriage, I'd be living in a moral crusade against trans people in which every liberal British institution & industry has been consumed by obsessive bigotry, enabled by a Labour Prime Minister
