Another video where I talk about how to create cities for your RPG on the fly based on actual city maps. IMHO RPGs are best when you DIY most of it yourself. Like anything, the more you do it the better you get. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mksu...

Welcome to Blackmoor Sorry about your Faery PC. aka Bad day at the Dungeons & Dragons. 😅😂🤣

Build a dungeon in 10 minutes! A video on fast dungeon creation. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Griff www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GsN...

I have a dumb sense of humor.

So much drama in gaming. Most of the OSR crew has a sense of humor. Our ability to self mock goes to 11. Game night is rife with bad puns and silliness. We're here to have fun.

Continuing with the dungeon creation series, as I talk about monster and treasure charts in original Dungeons & Dragons. I really feel that RPGs are about having fun and keeping things simpler is the route that goal. You can see the video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zap...

What do you use as Inspiration for your games? Are you using RPG Splat Books, or some other source for your Dungeons & Dragons, or any other setting? Another video in a series on creating DIY dungeons has just been posted. Check it out! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpn3...

I spent my weekend playing games at DaveConMN. It was really small, which is the kind of convention I do love dearly. Hoping to hit more small local cons this year. The players in my last session were stellar and we played an amazing game together.

A reviewer in Japan finally received his copy and was able to make a video. More here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=909o...

Making Maps for RPGs is Easy and Fun! Please share the link. Thank you! www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vc2...

In Dungeons & Dragons, or any other RPG for that matter, there is one strong indicator that the adventure is a railroad. It comes from early CRPGs. But can you guess what it is? Gold Stars will be awarded 🌟 Once the answer has been revealed we may then argue! 😆

I like the dialogue I have with people who watch our Youtube channel. People ask questions and I offer advice, and people also offer useful advice which I tuck away in my brain for future use. The comments are always interesting. 40+ years and I'm still learning.

A new video about something most gamers may never even think about. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HM8R...

Easy Character Background for RPGs I talk a little bit about how I prefer to use these when I play Dungeons & Dragons. My preference is to create a smaller background as a "Launch Point" for my character to grow within the game itself. What do you think? www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTNS...

Always support the indie creators by LIKING and SHARING their promo posts. This may not be for you, but maybe someone you know would like this. The indies can't do it without your grass roots support. I am drawn to the art in a couple of these.❤️

We've been playing in Chris's home brew campaign lately. Yet, it is all based within the tradition of Classic RPG. Everything he is using is essential reading for a the true home brewer. He sent me an image of his recent work session. Which of these titles speaks to your inner grognard?

I see people use terms which are somewhat new to me. For instance: Sand Box Never used it during the first decade. Not really sure what it means. I just play how played in the early days. We called it playing an RPG. Would you want it any other way? Someone tell me what Sand Box means.

Do you use social status in your RPG? A rules as guidelines approach to having social status for your PCs in OD&D. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXm2...

I have some neighbors who seem to be into plastic toys. It looks like they added a whole new section onto their front yard display. This must be hours of work.

Seems Legit

Ok all you youtube Dungeons & Dragons Influencers. Time to be very afraid. We Have Arrived!!! 😅😂🤣 www.youtube.com/watch?v=riO4...

And this is why I have been dubbed a Toxically Nostalgic Grognard. Toxic Gamers have more fun. Enjoy your make believe Elf Games.

Remember when gamers actually wanted the DM to trigger and psychologically scar us players? Me neither.😜 IMHO if you aren't describing things so as to emotionally manipulate and even terrify your players, then you aren't doing it right. Dungeons are scary places. You may now get off my lawn.😆

Seems Legit

Sometimes my other social media shows me old images. You just do not know tension and drama until you've played a miniatures battle. The best thing about 1/72 scale plastic is you can play big battles on a dining table.

A fundamental difference between WOTC consumers and old schoolers. WOTC kids only play one game. WOTC can't sell DMGs like TSR did. Our OSR group is already onto another system with Knave. We play everything, even 5e, not so for the 5/6 e kids. Artist rendering of knave failed doubt checks.

Gauntlets of Julien Fries.

Now that physical printed D&D is abandoned by WOTC, gamers will keep playing other rules. It's hard to choose which OSR system to migrate to. My suggestion is to try a few sessions of Zero edition. It's FREE! www.youtube.com/watch?v=riO4...

How you can tell if a player is One Of Us.

Great comments on my latest video. i.e. Classic RPG is a base reference point for everyone to be able to grasp how home rules fit into an RPG. If everyone knows AD&D and you do something different with it, no one gets lost in the game. Glad I read my commenters. www.youtube.com/@TheInformal...

I posted this video the other day. If you watch, or skim, toward the end I talk about three of my favorite home rules. If you play Classic OSR style RPG, then you may want to use them, or take and alter them. Curious what little home brew rules you are using. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVdo...

Very sad news today. We lost Ernie. Super nice guy who could sit down and DM 12 hour game sessions. One of us. A true gamer. Sending prayers to his family and friends.

A new video where I talk a little bit about house rules and why I feel they are important. You can check it out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVdo...

Another review is in for ITWBY! The only criticism regards the cover, which is something we planned on changing. I suppose this edition will become a collectible now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyQG...

One thing I can never resist is a good miniatures wargame. Last year at GaryCon.

Me on any social media platform. It's a bit like this.

My way of making RPG combat more speedy by removing initiative. If truth must be told, I played without initiative even when I was a kid. It's called Parallel Actions and I talk about here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=35Z-...

Q: How does one run an OSR/Classic RPG game with a lot of players in it? A: You use the DM tools that Griff will teach you in this video. You can run huge groups of players if you stick to the basics. Check it out! www.youtube.com/watch?v=epG6...
