As reported, the entire staff of 538 was laid off this morning. This is a severe blow to political data journalism, and I feel for my colleagues. Readers note: As we were instructed not to publish any new content, all planned updates to polls data and averages are canceled indefinitely. Huge loss :(

Josie Huang, the KPCC/LAist reporter who was slammed to the ground and arrested by LASD while covering a protest in 2020, lost her home in the Eaton fire. Her family started a GoFundMe because they lost everything: www.gofundme.com/f/support-th...

“An attitude that ‘the show must go on’ isn’t surprising. Still, it left some New Orleanians expressing a long-standing sorrow that what’s good for the people who visit this city is always prioritized over what’s good for the people who call it home.” www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

RIP, Jimmy Carter.

That 2-point tipped ball was ridiculous. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Amazing concentration by Malik Nabers. #saints #giants

Don't forget to set out your turkey tray for Scrim tonight.

When I turned 40, I had 320 short story rejections and no books published. A few years later, I've published a short story collection and two novels with another on the way. Believe in yourself like someone who loves you.

I've got this book coming out in February. I'd love to speak to your civic group or book club. Have books will travel. I have events scheduled for Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Alexandria, & New Orleans, so I'm happy to travel to any part of Louisiana if you let me talk about the book & sell some copies.

Not the arms and legs, right?

We have a welder, because New Orleans. A woman. (She’s fabulous.) I had no idea women welders were so rare.

3 TDs by Taysom are enough to make everybody forget the turnovers. Impressive game for him. #saints #twowinsinarow

Love Will Harris’ energy, flipping into the end zone and celebrating a scoop & score — even if it got called back. 😂 #saints

Taysom taketh & Taysom giveth away. #saints #neworleans

MVS to the house. If only I’d played him in fantasy. 🤦🏻‍♀️ #saints #neworleans

Looking gorgeous this morning, New Orleans. #prospect6 #harmonycircle #nola

will to freedom

Scrim busted out again and is on the loose in the Carrollton neighborhood. He jumped out a second story window. The battery on his GPS collar died. BOLO SCRIM CARROLLTON NEIGHBORHOOD!

I feel a little like I did in 2009 on the bluebird app when I didn’t know what I was doing. So, hey.
