Now is the most important moment in decades for government to back policing after years of underinvestment, write six of Britain’s most senior police chiefs www.thetimes.com/uk/crime/art...

The FBU has sent its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Jennie Logan and Martyn Sadler. They died in the line of duty protecting their community. They were both well-loved and widely respected. We are proud that they were members of our union. Full statement:

Two firefighters and one member of the public have been confirmed dead following a fire incident at Bicester, Oxfordshire. This is terrible news. Our thoughts are with their families, friends and colleagues. The FBU will be on hand to provide support in the coming days.

Developers are cutting corners, putting lives at risk. After the Grenfell Tower fire, new regulations meant that tower blocks over 18 metres must have two staircases. A proposed development in Penge stops 30cm short in order to have just one.

On Firefighters' Memorial Day, we honour the lives of firefighters across the world, including the 2,300 UK firefighters who have died in the line of duty. At 12 noon, fire service workers will line up at their station, control room or other workplace to take part in a minute’s silence.

Firefighters are being exposed to fire contaminants and forever chemicals - and are dying as a result. We won't rest until we have adequate regulation, prevention, health monitoring and compensation. Steve Wright and FBU vice president Adam Taylor are in Geneva taking our case to the UN this week.

In opposition Labour promised justice for Nuclear Test Veterans. Now the government has admitted the Defence Secretary’s promised review into radiation experiments involving UK troops has no budget, staffing or deadline. No way to treat national heroes www.mirror.co.uk/news/video-e...

44 years ago today, Anthony Marshall died in the line of duty at just 26 years of age. He left behind a wife, Cheryl, and one year old son, John. Anthony was killed when a building collapsed in the aftermath of a fire at the Woolworths branch in Wimbledon. #WeRemember Anthony Marshall.

This is absolutely shocking. MoD officials blocked evidence of Nuked Blood cover-up How long is this cover-up going to be allowed to continue? These veterans are national heroes. They must be given justice www.mirror.co.uk/news/politic...

Still on target for zero copies ordered in April 😂

Wildfires raging since January have exposed fire services for lack of standardised resourcing. We need national standards and proper investment now to ensure the safety of both our firefighters and the public they protect.

🚨 NEW | Wildfires expose the postcode lottery in the fire service. There were 286 wildfires between January and April - but response times, crewing and training vary across the country. We need a statutory advisory body to set national standards.

'We were failed originally by the Post Office and now we're being failed again by the Government' Chris Head, wrongly accused over the Post Office Horizon IT scandal, speaks to #BBCBreakfast about calls to take legal action against the Government over compensation

Fire service workers are struggling with mental health issues, but leaders aren't doing enough about it. The FBU are asking for 10,000 currently serving firefighters and fire control staff to complete the mental health survey. With the survey responses, we can advocate for better support.

FBU members in Wales were exercising their right to protest, when a fire service leader called them "doughnuts"! We like doughnuts, but it's no way to refer to firefighters who work round the clock to keep the public safe. Senior leaders need to respect the people their decisions affect.

Poor mental health is the highest cause of lost time working in the UK. With the right standardised provisions in place, firefighters could get the support they need to keep doing the job they love. Take the survey in the 🧵 to be a part of the campaign to make this happen.

The Sentencing Council has rejected calls from the justice secretary to change guidance that recommends judges consider a criminal’s ethnicity before deciding their punishment news.sky.com/story/senten...

The spring statement is an opportunity for Labour to deliver on the needs of working people and introduce a wealth tax. Workers are already struggling to afford the basics and cannot accept falling living standards under Labour.

During the pandemic, firefighters delivered medicine, drove ambulances and moved the bodies of the dead. Many emergency workers rely on income support and welfare benefits. The Chancellor's decision to make these benefit cuts, instead of introducing a wealth tax, is unacceptable.

Every day firefighters in Mid and West Wales risk their lives to keep the public safe. What they're asking in return is simple: respect their terms and conditions. FBU members want the proposed shift changes cancelled and a proper response to the serious concerns laid out in the cultural review.

'We now have sub-postmasters who are dying before they get their redress to which they are entitled' Liam Byrne MP, Chair of the Commons Select Committee, told #BBCBreakfast the government needs to 'sort out' the compensation scheme for victims of the Post Office scandal
