The world is yet full of miracles and wonders and beauty and you.

Everything suffers and everyone dies, so why not strive to make our time here, together, as warm, as compassionate, as caring, as kind, as good as it possibly can be?

The regime has posted signs at Manzanar, the WWII concentration camp for Japanese Americans, asking visitors to report "negative" historical interpretations. Hard to imagine a positive interpretation but it's probably just an excuse to shut down the park. www.sfgate.com/california-p...

This is not the kind of thing you do if you love America.

Remember all the assholes in 2003 who insisted that we’d be greeted as liberators and called you anti-American for opposing the war and then changed their minds many years later to pretend like they always opposed the war? They’re doing the same schtick again.

In the barrage of outrages, it's easy to forget that most of the people disappeared to CECOT are still disappeared.

That last sentence really is the perfect distillation of NYT-brain: imagine thinking that you had the understanding of American political life necessary to understand what is or isn't a "fundamental" change but had no need to say whether those changes were good or bad.

President Deals got tired of talking about deals and wanted to go home and watch some TV. www.theguardian.com/us-news/live...

My god. This story is just RELENTLESS. You almost have to admire the dogged determination of our entire mainstream media apparatus to center this one putative news item. Almost.

The thing is, even if you find her views correct, Bruenig just doesn't have the intellectual or journalistic chops to argue for them coherently or persuasively—and, she's allergic to nuance or deep consideration. It's like the worst of manual Thomism for the magazine-reading set.

Grandpa's brain doesn't work right anymore. Trump's brains are leaking out his ears.

I've said it many times before and Andrew Cuomo is making me say it again: we don't have a cancellation problem. We have never had a cancellation problem. To the contrary, we have a problem that "disgrace" is a very temporary embarrassment— an brief entr'acte more than an intermission.

Selling our birthright (public lands) for a mess of pottage (tax cuts for the already very wealthy).

Supposed to be close to 90 tomorrow. A/C quit tonight.

Is the plan to pacify all of America’s Democratic-governed cities (and states) and rule them from Mar-A-Lago?

Trump declares war on cities “We must expand efforts to detain & deport Illegal Aliens in America’s largest Cities, such as LA, Chicago, & NY, where Millions of Illegal Aliens reside. These, & other Cities, are core of the Dem Power Center, where they use Illegal Aliens to expand their Voter Base”

Intentionally targeting non-combatants is unjust no matter who does it.

The democratic Senate caucus should demand a censure

It has been three days since Kristi Noem, the head of the department of homeland security, said this in public. If meant literally, it describes the end of democracy in California. If not meant literally, would be nice for that to be clarified and for the troops to leave. bsky.app/profile/just...
