Hands up if you regularly play (more than once a year) 'Paddle controller' games on the #Commodore #VIC20

New blog post, repairing some "corn cob" style LED bulbs - blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2025/06/corn... Written on a dark and overcast April day, perfect for a blazingly hot and bright June day.

I have updated a couple of old blog posts covering the 8x5 matrix keyboards used by Sinclair and others, and some of the tricks used to cheat extra keys by pressing multiple keys mechanically or electrically. blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2022/05/sinc... blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2022/05/reve...

Finally. Unmodified Tut-Tut for the ZX81 running on ZX81 BASIC for the Minstrel 4th running on a Jupiter Ace emulator running on a Windows 7 emulator running on a Linux PC. I am sure I will write an excessively long blog post about it. Thanks to @zx81keyboardadventure.com for helping sort this.

I am Mallory, I used to be part of a mini-computer. I look down on them. I am Nichicon, I look up to him because he is bigger than a can of beans, but I look down on him because he didn't even come with screws or a mounting bracket. I am Kemet. I know my place.

Just some picture of big capacitors, only one of which made it into my latest blog post. blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2025/06/mini...

New blog post - I have listed some Mini PET 40/80 boards on Tindie: blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2025/06/mini... These replace the motherboard in a Commodore PET, using the original power supply, keyboard and monitor. * 40/80 column * 32K RAM * BASIC 1/2/4 * Mini PET BASIC 4.1 +wedge +file browser

ZX80 Manual READ: https://archive.org/stream/NH2021_zx80-operating-manual.pdf/page/n83/mode/2up #zxspectrum #retrogaming

This week's blog post explained how I modified ZX80 and ZX81 BASIC to run on the Minstrel 4th. Including the ZX81 NMI based slow/fast mode without NMI. blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2025/05/zx81... It's not perfect, but it's good enough to run 3D Monster Maze and many other games at 100% ZX81 speed.

You would tell me if my Tindie store was broken, wouldn't you? Been deadly silent on there for the last few weeks - need to keep checking to see if it's still online. www.tindie.com/stores/tynem...

Very early MythBusters, before Jamie grew the moustache.

Found this photo when I was looking for something else. No idea what possessed me to create such an image, but I still want one.

New blog post - How I modified ZX81 BASIC to run on the Minstrel 4th, so it can run most original unmodified ZX81 games at 100% the speed of the original. blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2025/05/zx81... Believe it or not, this is the short version, but still may take all bank holiday weekend to read.

Anyone know what this stylised 7 logo is? (or it it a T or a Z?)

Pleased to say that Minstrel 4th kits are now available from z80kits.com home of RC2014. That's a great way to buy the kit because you can also get all the relevant RC2014 modules and backplane bundled together from the same place. z80kits.com/shop/tynemou... #RC2014 #JupiterAce #ZX80 #ZX81 #Z80

New blog post - Hints and tips for building and troubleshooting Minstrel kits. blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2025/05/some... Sorry if it reads a little ranty in places, don't think I was having a very good day when I wrote it. Also, did I mention the Minstrel 4th kits now support ZX80 and ZX81 BASIC?

Does anyone know of a disassembly of either of the Lambda 8300 ROMs? It is sort of ZX81 compatible (also known as the BASIC 2000 and many other things). Post from 2019: blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/2019/12/a-mi... @binarydinosaurs.co.uk @loudscotsbloke.bsky.social @sinclairresearch.bsky.social
