Absolutely read this economist.com/europe/2025/... from The Economist

We all must stand up every single day. "If the founding history of this country is any guide, those who stood up in court to vindicate constitutional rights and, by so doing, served to promote the rule of law, will be the models lauded when this period of American history is written." -Judge Howell

Workers have been fainting for years in Cambodia’s garment factories, where more than 57,000 people now produce Nike goods. A former medical worker at one of the company’s suppliers blamed overtime hours, among other factors. By @robwdavis.bsky.social‬

I think this comes from a good place but I disagree. A common thread in deradicalization stories is stigma: Once people start losing friends and jobs they reconsider their beliefs. Obviously you should try to be nice to people but you also need to draw a line where you won’t engage anymore.

you can't call it the Gulf of Mexico anymore on Fox

For those keeping score at home… (Source: @TheEconomist)

Yes. We keep writing headlines that assign powers to the president that he does not have.

"putin to participate in the Red Square parade only via video link," Reuters.

I’m still baffled at how America took one of the basic principles of the presidency — the occupant shouldn’t be able to benefit financially from the office — and just said, nah, that just doesn’t count for this one guy.

Vučić and Fico, who planned to attend the Moscow parade on May 9, suddenly fell ill. The EU earlier criticized their plans, warning of risks to Serbia’s membership and Slovakia’s reputation.

Like watching a car accident happened in slow motion

It is becoming horrifyingly clear that the majority of May Day protesters arrested over the past two days were Black union workers. Solidifying once again the disgusting level of racism in this country.

This is real

A headline in Russian media: "Russia is ready to help Taliban in their fight against terrorism." Terrorists will help terrorists to "fight terrorism".

hold me

I like telling authoritarians where to shove it in multiple languages

Can't wait to see the breakdown of how much Elon Musk will personally profit from this budget

Reuters: U.S. JUDGE STRIKES DOWN TRUMP EXECUTIVE ORDER TARGETING LAW FIRM PERKINS COIE - COURT FILING

100 billionaire families spent $2.6 billion in the 2024 election. 70% of these donations went to Republicans. Now, Trump and the GOP are gutting the FEC — which enforces campaign finance and anti-corruption laws. See how this works?

Why do Elon "Social Security's a Ponzi scheme" Musk and his DOGE cronies need to stick their fingers in your personal data — your work history, income, benefits, and health records? Trump and Musk need to get their hands off Americans' Social Security.

This video is reportedly from China, and it shows a robot attacking its engineer. I guess Asimov's robotics laws were not implemented into that robot. Considering that Chinese media are heavily controlled by the government, what is the purpose of releasing the video? Thoughts?

There is a reason why millions of workers want to join unions. There is a reason why greedy corporations oppose unions. Union membership means higher wages and better benefits. Let’s grow the trade union movement.

Auchincloss on Fox News: "What I'm seeing is a president who is more interested in the valuation of his memecoin than he is about people's 401ks. What I'm seeing is a president who along with Howard Lutnick is self-dealing on crypto instead of worrying about the strength of the US dollar."

Guess investing in baristas IS important... if only SOMEONE had ideas that could, say, be put into a union contract......... oh wait

A secret experiment that turned Redditors into guinea pigs was an ethical disaster—and could undermine research that’s only getting more urgent, @tombartlett.bsky.social reports.
