erotica and horror are two sides of the same coin, if you wish to write good horror, you must be willing to turn someone on, and if you want to write good porn, you must be willing to scare someone

Bluesky is “screen reader accessible” the way a staircase with curb cuts on each step is a “wheelchair ramp.” No keyboard nav. No useful landmarks. No focus memory. I lose my place every time I interact with a post. Compliance ≠ usability. Day 23 asking @support.bsky.team to fix this #A11yFail

Whatever you can reach to do, if you can reach something that will help someone, do it.

In this moment of anxiety, please enjoy a baby goose falling out of an adult gooses wing. Yes I wrote that sentence. Yes this happened. Yes it's ADORABLE. No I don't think I'll capture a cuter goose moment this year. 🐣 🪶

This is true for every single kind of Special Magic Legal Words, fyi "Hello officer can I see that warrant? My boss says I can't let you into the private areas of this business without a signed judicial warrant."

New blog post on ACRLog, "AI Refusal in Libraries: A Starter Guide." Got a lot of comments during a recent presentation that people hadn't heard of the concept of AI refusal, so here's some places to start. 📚 acrlog.org/2025/06/11/a...

Not taking anything away from Senator Padilla because he was treated atrociously But I JUST want to remind everyone that the Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, a Black woman, was just indicted for just asking questions at an ICE detention center in her state Keep that same energy of support for her

This is Whiskey. She knows people pay good money for mud baths. Found this one for free! 13/10 very resourceful my friend (TT: ivycaponi)

Finding my rainbow crowbar for the pried parade

Last thing before I log off: at some point you need to sleep. Staring at the images and videos and refreshing all night will not make it stop and will not do much but keep you awake. Gently pick a time tonight to log right the hell off and do it. This will all be here in the morning.

Criticizing and nitpicking the way people choose to protest or react to the violent incitement coming from armed enforcers is not a good way forward. We need solidarity not infighting. Everyone has a job now. Let others do theirs. You do yours. But remember, yours isn’t to nitpick.

Remember this iconic photo from Ferguson? This is Edward Crawford, throwing back a tear gas canister to protect some nearby kids. Like many identified Ferguson protesters and organizers, he was "found dead" a couple years later and neither the cops nor the media will ever investigate.

COVER REVEAL!!! Our anthology of Indigenous Futurisms <3333

There's a genuinely fascinating aspect to this post, which is on display all throughout the quotes and replies: Why is this person asking HISTORIANS???? Using maps is within living memory, so why not just ask the saddest, grey-est person they can find? Well... 🧵🧵🧵

This is very cool, check it out! One of the books included is the newly out Trans History graphic novel by Alex L. Combs and Andrew Eakett, where I'm a character :) (I talk about Herculine Barbin's memoirs.)

While we're arguing about whether or not Harriet Tubman was real, lemme rec this great 2025 Pulitzer winner by a descendant of one of the folks in the raid Combee: Harriet Tubman, the Combahee River Raid, and Black Freedom During the Civil War by Edda L. Fields-Black. bookshop.org/p/books/comb...

BEGGING every pundit & publication concerned about lack of ongoing access to covid vaccines to be clear that there are other tools we can use to prevent infection: ventilation, far uv, & filtration with purifiers & masks can make an impact *if you use them*— help others access these tools for free👇🏻

Maybe I just don’t remember it but I don’t think there was ever a corresponding trend of articles about conservative parents cutting off their gay kids, which was a thing that absolutely happened en masse in the 90s and aughts as gay culture mainstreamed

Doing one of my periodic “sort through the piles of unopened mail/random paperwork on my desk and try to file away, recycle, shred, and/or take action as needed” marathons. What a pain. I really wish I didn’t do this to myself, but haven’t found a strategy that works.

You don't even need to translate the message to understand the video. 🥰

fed like a hole

All I'm saying is that if you like the companion stories in Baldur's Gate 3, you need to be reading the Chronicles of Nerezia by @clh2oars.bsky.social claudiearseneault.com/nerezia/

Soda literally kept me alive when an SBO d/t IBD meant I couldn't eat anything and we were not near my normal hospital, so you can call it "junk food" if you want to, but that's not a scientific or medical judgement.

this book is out today and i don't know you but i know it's exactly what you need right now (ecstatic, brutal, brilliant visions of the future) bookshop.org/p/books/ampl...

There's a lot of people talking about and memorializing George Floyd today, which is understandable. These weeks at the end of May are a big trauma-anniversary for people here in Minneapolis, and I want to ... acknowledge that and talk about it?

So honored to interview Caro De Robertis for @truthout about So Many Stars: An Oral History of Trans, Nonbinary, Genderqueer, and Two-Spirit People of Color... It' a stunning book filled with details lost from history, now preserved elegantly with charmf. 💕

I just saw a good example of what I was talking about with chatgpt being a crackpot generating machine. A guy had started Wheeler's Spacetime Physics, and had a problem on page 2. Wheeler expressed a square root as a power of 1/2. √a = a^1/2. This is basic algebra, not physics.
