As a video conference meeting tool user, I want a way to mute only one person for myself, so that I don't hear twice, my colleague who is in the same office and the same remote meeting as me, with 0.5s delay. It's annoying as hell. I think you can do this on discord? Teams, I need that too!

New research from MIT found that those who used ChatGPT can’t remember any of the content of their essays. Key takeaway: the product doesn’t suffer, but the process does. And when it comes to essays, the process *is* how they learn. arxiv.org/pdf/2506.088...

Use Signal. We promise, no AI clutter, and no surveillance ads, whatever the rest of the industry does. <3

Yes it needs to be included in mainstream education and people be taught about accessibility from an early age. #AXSChat

a5 highlight also the profit potential of providing accessible and inclusive products and services. profit can be better in motivating than just compliance #axschat

a4 how could they write good legislation without training and education? #axschat

a3 spread the word. talk, use accessible (easy) language that works both for companies and end users too #axschat

a2 many small/medium enterprises don’t have much clue about what accessibility is. in many things Europe is behind in accessibility. #axschat

A1 I think many organisations are not even aware of the #EAA and this that are are frequently confused by conflicting information about what is in scope. Whilst it is a significant expansion of requirements it is not universal. #AXSChat

a1 far from prepared. #axschat

Denmark is replacing Microsoft software for digital sovereignty. The Ministry of Digitalisation is phasing out Microsoft Office 365 & Windows & switching to LibreOffice & Linux to enhance digital sovereignty & decrease reliance on US tech providers. How will they comply with accessibility? #axschat

"The National Association of the Deaf filed a lawsuit late last month in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after the group says its repeated requests for American Sign Language interpreters went unheeded." @disabilityscoop.bsky.social www.disabilityscoop.com/2025/06/17/w...

If you're protesting, know your rights.

Why is the onus on protestors to be "peaceful" when the State brings violence? Why is "rioting" used to malign only the people fighting violence initiated by the State and its agents, and not those agents and that State? Why isn't ICE described as rioting?

a6 image and video descriptions seem to be getting better #axschat

A5: I love accessibility conferences—but yes, we can feel like we’re preaching to the choir. Let’s keep these spaces strong and open new doors for diverse leaders, especially those who can’t attend in person. #AXSChat #WeAreBillionStrong

A3 I don't think we can rely on the #AI industry to self regulate. Technology companies don't have a very good record on self regulating when it's against their financial interest. This is why regulations & enforcement are important, as much as the EU is criticised they lead on regulation. #AXSChat

A2 Money talks, if a company is selling products and services that are not accessible walk away and take your business to one that does. Investment funds also hold great power to influence corporate governance and behaviours. Lobbying the pension funds can also have impact. #AXSChat

A2 talk openly when companies do things right - and also when they fail. #axschat

A1 i wish. it seems more that DEI and accessibility/inclusion are being scrapped, because greed #axschat

A survey found that 40% of large enterprises in Ireland faced employee resignations due to changes in their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies. Many plan to eliminate DEI targets, and 50% will stop using pronouns in email signatures. www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/40-o... #axschat

🧵 Erm. Slightly dark topic This was me as a kid. I was forced to take ADHD meds, I hated them. I stopped being me It’s part of how i ended up in foster care. At ~12 I was given an ultimatum. Take the meds. Or be sent away Not a lack of love. A lack of support for my parents + a broken system 1/3

Despite breaking laws and terrorizing people, the Trump admin is deporting far fewer people per day than the Biden admin did with the same budget.

happy for Khalil of course but i must say, "lawful permanent resident not charged with any crimes, imprisoned by president's stormtroopers for having forbidden opinions about US-abetted genocide, briefly allowed to touch his child" is a hell of a thing to find oneself feeling joy and relief about

Autistic burnout isn’t a bad mood. It’s a full-body, full-brain shutdown. It can look like forgetting how to do things you used to manage. Feeling clumsier. Exhausted beyond rest. #WeAreBillionStrong #LifeUSA #AutisticBurnout #NeurodivergentLife

In case you were wondering how long we’ve known that mobility in cities is fundamentally a space problem, this was from Wichita Falls, Texas in 1927. The streetcar was electric. And they would need more cars today because of fewer average people in each car. HT Peter Norton

UnitedHealth secretly pressured nurses to change patients' records to include DNRs (Do Not Resuscitate) without their consent, so those patients would die instead of being saved with medical interventions that could cost UnitedHealth money. This is murder. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Last year my wife had breast cancer and a double mastectomy. This morning, for the first time ever, she was challenged in the changing rooms at the swimming pool. Her breasts were not what make her a woman - but, breasts or not, she is entitled to dignity and protection from vigilantes.
