"... it's worth repeating that car drivers, most of whom have license plates and licenses, cause virtually all the deaths and injuries in New York City."

Hey Phoenix! It's time to end the stroads! Speak up! www.change.org/p/we-demand-...

i may just join the War on Cars instead

"IIHS findings show that vehicles with hood heights over 40 inches are approximately 45% more likely to cause pedestrian fatalities."

Ample parking at the supermarket

Live every day like it’s Bike to Work Day.

It's a beautiful day for a bike ride

I had the joy of experiencing my first school #bikebus today, to take my godson on Budlong’s inaugural ride! #bikechi Favorite kid quotes: “It’s like a school bus but with bike wheels” “This is the best way to get to school” “I could do this everyday”

I wrote a longform post on some of my thoughts, pictures, videos and experiences with Chinese urbanism. But Noah Smith consistently misses the mark on what living in urban China is actually like as well as the strengths and weaknesses of Chinese cities. Link in next post.

Our non-existent pedestrian infrastructure along arterials is inexcusable. Concrete barriers should be a legally required bare minimum effort (at Access NS, Bayer's Lake, 311'd numerous times)

EVs are, at best, harm reduction. A sedan EV/compact car is better than an E-SUV. Walkable urban neighborhoods, ebikes, and transit are even better than EVs.

opposition to bus lanes from people who have more cars than can fit in their driveway and live a resulting life of carbrain-inflicted misery are the equivalent of people who take more than their share of food at a function and start complaining that they have a stomach ache

When I was a little kid, if I saw an old person walking around, I’d have an emotional response and ask, “How come no one helps and drives them?” Anyway. I’m a pedestrian and transit user now, and when I see an older person walking across the street, I make time to walk slow, just to make sure.

Watching her comments reminded me a lot of the people who like to selectively talk about accessibility only when they want to argue against bike infrastructure. Her comments were rife with misinformation and utterly vile.

Probably not much of an issue on unsealed trails. Their inherent instability will likely make them less enjoyable on a longer journey such as along a rail trail. However there will be some who choose to use them. Sorry the article is behind a paywall. www.smh.com.au/national/nsw...

Last week was a very bad week. But this setback won't destroy this program I care so much about. Please share and donate (if you're able) so we can continue our mission of increasing access to cargo bikes via free rentals! secure.everyaction.com/P8gtfpBnWkav...

Raised crosswalks are one of the strongest indicators that your city does not want you to die getting hit by a car

Eh, I'll take it.

Oh, I guess we can just hang up official-looking signs saying whatever we want now!

Cargo bikes are still so rare in America that rolling up to the grocery store on one gets you stares like you just arrived to star in a WWF cage match...

There was an old tweet that stuck with me: "If you can easily walk to the coffee shop but your barista has a one hour commute, you don't live in a walkable 15 minute city; you live in a theme park"

Thank you to the 60+ of you who took part in Birmingham’s #KidicalMass cycle ride today - what a brilliant turnout 🙌💚 #StreetsforKids #StreetsforEveryone #SafeStreetsNow #Birmingham

Another week, another @bikeshare.bsky.social ride home from #DCA. #bikedc

okay yeah walking around seattle.... actual bike lanes not filled with glass. sidewalks that are wide and not 80% broken. bus only lanes. actual shade. amazing. who knew this was possible!???

Our little bike bus is a toddler! And after our ride I ended up joining a baby sibling bike bus riding to a nearby French school too! Many happy kids and parents 😎

Good morning! I am in an office tower in midtown Atlanta where the marta board and senior leadership is having a "retreat". They will be discussing the draft operating and capital budgets for the first time, and also receive briefings on federal grants. Follow me and @thexylom.com for more updates:

I just want people to have affordable and accessible housing close to employment and educational opportunities with pleasant and convenient active and public transportation options. Is that too much to ask?

I think I may need a walkable city

This sea of parking is why we have traffic, not bike lanes.

Situated 60 kilometres west of Shanghai, Kunshan is “small” city home to two million residents, and a number of bike producers including Giant and Shimano. In recent years, it has established its brand as a cycling city, as part of a strategy to put itself on the map as “Kunshan Innovation Valley”.🧵

Authentication is hard. We've been juggling OAuth and pockets full of app passwords, and we're know we're not the only ones. That's why today, we're open sourcing an all in one, best-in-class service that anyone can use to deal with ATProto authentication - for free.

INBOX: Compared to the FY2025 Proposed Budget, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens is proposing on the day of the opening of Cop City: • a $50.3 million increase in police budget (+19.5%) • a $7.73 million increase in corrections/ jail budget (+38%), and • an effective freeze in the city planning budget !!

Little victories like this are often the ones that put the biggest smile on my face. Thanks Erin for doing what nobody else did.

Few details are known yet, but a person was killed on a bike in London yesterday. Having lived in London for 7 years, I know that Dundas St is a very fast moving affair, without any safe cycling infrastructure. #YouNeverRideAlone www.ctvnews.ca/london/artic...
