The difficulty in running a democratic republic in a capitalist society is that it offers the opportunity for selfish people to be elected - and selfish people don't share the wealth for a better society. They pursue wealth for themselves and to be above the issues their selfishness creates.

I had to buy this jacket to attend my niece’s wedding and now I plan to wear it everywhere. Beer at Parilla?…I’m wearing it. Apple fritter at DK Donuts?…wearing it. Mowing the lawn?…yep. Trump’s impeachment trial?…hell yeah. If this jacket isn’t threadbare within a year I will have failed.

Watching people riding bikes to the Greek Food festival reminds me that people don’t understand how to wear a bike helmet or how it will protect them in case of an accident. If you can hit your face on the wall while wearing your helmet, it won’t help you in a crash.

This was the book club book, and it was hard to finish. In all fairness to the author, I had just read The Bean Trees and so his writing was excruciatingly painful in comparison. The book is a success story in self-publishing, and I will keep my praise to that. 1/5 Don’t recommend
