Making my voice heard at the #nokings protest in Vancouver!

So excited to see this work out in @narjournal.bsky.social academic.oup.com/nar/article/... Congratulations to Hazel Cui on outstanding work! Keep an eye out for part 2 of this project 😎

The Sondheim Finalists’ Exhibition at @thewaltersartmuseum is open as of TODAY! I am so thrilled to share this new work and hope you will see it! “…and Find Out.” (detail), watercolor, ink, and acrylic on paper, 22 x 30 x 1”, 2025

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

Check this out if you ever wondered what intercellular bridges might be doing during meiosis! Happy to have played a small role! Congrats!!! @thejainlab.bsky.social

Come be my colleague at UBC! A great place to work w/amazing students, a beautiful campus, and…maybe one or two other perks 🇨🇦

Quick tip: If your paper was published today, consider sharing it on social media tomorrow instead. Today, everyone's focus is on Standing Up for Science and making some good trouble!

Heartbreaking chats this week with students thinking of giving up on their dreams of getting a PhD. They worry about getting in PhD programs and careers post PhD. My suggestions: don’t be hasty, think broadly incl EU & Canada, & careers beyond traditional academia. What’re you telling your students?

Math is hard

Just got word that our Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Inclusive Excellence 3 (IE3) Grant was being canceled. All 100+ institutions. So even private funding is susceptible to this administration’s unraveling of DEI initiatives

Red state alcohol is currently being removed at B.C. Liquor store in Victoria. #bcpoli

MAYosis is coming... register and submit abstracts here. meiosis.cornell.edu/mayosis2025/...

NASA's James Webb Telescope discovers alcohol cloud in deep space! To drink all of that, every person on earth would have to drink 300,000 pints each day for one billion years. www.wionews.com/web-stories/... #NASA #JamesWebb #alcohol #space #spaceeploration

📢The 2025 MAYosis webinar series will be held on consecutive Wednesdays, May 7-28, at 4 pm CET (7 am PST; 12 am JST) meiosis.cornell.edu/mayoss2025/ Apply to give a talk (deadline is March 8, trainees and junior faculty only): tinyurl.com/47k3cjpn Registration is free: tinyurl.com/39rs53yv

Lets start with something exciting! Applications are now open to join our fantastic department as a group leader fellow! Come start your independent group at (in our opinion) the best neuroscience department! reach out here or @macaskillaf.bsky.social for more info! www.ucl.ac.uk/work-at-ucl/...

Ru-upping this thread from last year since the paper is now out! @chenshuliu.bsky.social identified a Piezo-dependent mechanism that enables C. elegans to sniff out “bad eggs” and target them for destruction. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Hey folks! I got a tattoo of my beloved PIEZO ion channel on my arm! Now I can show how they activate (flatten) under pressure by flexing—Will add a bit of performance art to my science talks 🧪🧠.

Hello Bsky folks - here is a paper that we published earlier this year - great collaboration with the Bellen lab, Hyung-lok Chung, @okanca.bsky.social and others. Have a look if you're interested in Cdk8/19, mitochondria, Parkinsonism and Drosophila!

Happy Fly Day! November 18th is #Drosophila day. It commemorates the isolation of a white-eyed mutation, which is now used across the world. That mutation is white[1118], with the numbers standing for Nov 18th, the day it was isolated by Bob Levis. 🪰

Now that half of SciTwitter is here… Come be my colleague! The Dept of Cell Biology @EmoryUniversity is recruiting a developmental cell biologist. 🔬Do you study mechanisms of development using cell biological (and other) approaches? Join us!🔬 TY for RT! jobs.sciencecareers.org/job/664684/t...

I love iBiology videos and have learned so much by watching them. Also highly recommend the Conversations in Genetics series ft. amazing interviews of folks like Benzer and Jacob: www.youtube.com/@conversatio...

Belated intro post given the recent influx: Hi!👋 I’m Amanda. I’m a long time artist (mostly drawing and installation) more recently very into comics (most of which haven’t seen the light of day - yet 😊) Here’s a recent short comic!

Very sad to hear of the passing of Joanne Chory, who was an iconic scientist and person. Truly, one can say she spent her whole career trying to make a better planet and a better environment in science for all. Interview: www.sebiology.org/resource/in-... TED talk: www.ted.com/speakers/joa...

Hi Bluesky 🦋👋. Really don’t have time for fascist enabling social media platforms at the moment
