It’s salad season!!! Only in spring/summer do I make elaborate salads with homemade dressing. I get a lot of inspo from the cookbook Six Seasons, if anyone wants a recommendation! This salad is: arugula, salad turnips, radishes, orange, and avocado over labneh, with a citrus dressing & poppyseeds.

"Perhaps I will write—not to immortalize the pain, but to say that we were here… loving, dreaming, planting, drawing, singing, reading, writing… before our lives were reduced to a passing news bulletin or a cold political statement."

A non-fiction essay of mine was published with Riddle Fence! It details a year in my life when my ex-husband had a psychotic break. I’m immensely proud of this essay and so grateful to RF for seeing its merit. CW: psychosis, domestic violence, trauma. riddlefence.com/feature/smal...

I’ve been thinking about this nonstop for 24 hours. It’s one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever read.

I think about this comic all the time.

Writing the first short story I’ve written in AGES and I forgot how fun a brief little blip can be!

This thread sums up my rage also. Thankful to @mariadahvana.bsky.social for sharing this so eloquently.

Just when I think I cannot love this animal any more, she does this move

Looking forward to attending this!

An excellent piece on grief & death & what we leave behind in the digital age.

Okay my loves. It's the big day. Be Gay, go vote. Text your friends. Text your exes. Tell them to go VOTE.

Current reread: The Jasmine Throne! Just as gorgeous the second time around. I’m rereading this and the second one before I finish the series and read the third!

A great teacher of how to write good instructions was Amelia Bedelia. I’m writing instructions for our dog sitter and put “feed dog on the rug by the back door.” Thought of Amelia Bedelia and changed it: “put food bowl on the rug by back door.”

A very important (& horrifying & unsurprising &&&) read.

An easy 5/5 stars for the INCREDIBLE The River Has Roots (the magic! The mystery! The romance! The sisters!) by @amalelmohtar.com. (Wynonna gives it a 1/5 because I wouldn’t let her eat it.)

SO excited to dig into @amalelmohtar.com’s newest today! 😍

Today in figuring out what I like to eat for breakfast, I’m on a soft boiled egg kick. Pictured: kimchi, cucumbers, prosciutto, toasted onion bread, soft boiled eggs 🍳

Once again perusing gardening books for the one that says “You, personally, should plant this exact thing here.”

Every time I go into my local bookstore, they think I have a book in and I don’t: it’s this one on preorder, and I can’t wait to have it IN MY HANDS! Preorder/go get this book next week!

Also, #PEI writer folks! There’s a fantastic workshop by an equally fantastic author about how to pitch your work, Sat Apr 5 at 4pm. As someone who is terrible at talking about my novels, I’m geeked for it. More info: www.peiwritersguild.com/events/pitch...

I love a non-traditional breakfast, and we made this squash congee for dinner the other day. Today, I had it for brekkie with an egg poached in it. 10/10. justinesnacks.com/honeynut-squ...

Just finished Crooked Teeth by Danny Ramadan, what an incredible and important memoir. Highly recommend!
