The only writing advice I stand by across the board is that you should read widely, read good writers attentively, take pleasure in their use of language-the rhythms, the imagery, the clarity, conviction, beauty, insight, whatever it is each has to offer. You have to feel the language in some way.

The reason I want more people to make games is because it's a very fun game to play. In the same way I recommend cool games, I want to recommend cool rules to play. Rules are very fun toys! TTRPGs in particular bring that front and center. It's fun to play with rules and it's fun to play together!
