Picked the worst day to check in on Twitter. TL filled with casual calls for genocide on Indian muslims. Expect to see this venom trickle down to your family whatsapp groups soon. The right wing eco system is extremely dangerous.

Didn't like 'Empuraan,' but so glad that a mainstream filmmaker had the guts to take an unequivocal stand against Sangh parivar's communal politics. Prithvi deserves applause just for that. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Three and a half films on Day 3. Magma, The Day of the Jackal (1973), half of Chatthrapathi and Santosh. A good way to end the festival, especially with Santosh. Wish Hyderabad had more film festivals.

I could only squeeze in two films on day 2, but one of them is Michael Mann's 'Heat' on Hyderabad's biggest screen. A good day, indeed.

Day 1 is successfully completed with Missamma, Hysteria, Anora and Se7en. Still can't figure out how Anora won a Palme d'Or and an Oscar. Se7en, though, remains a 7/5 film. Missamma is funny and beautiful. Hysteria is a good watch.

'This is very Haneke-esque,' I thought as I was watching Hysteria, and 5 seconds later a thick book with Haneke's face and name appears as a doorstop. Freaky. Good film. 👍🏽

Funnier than I remembered. Pingali Nagendra Rao's dialogues were the real star of the film.

Starting #RedLorryFilmFestival with a classic. Mr. Ramesh Prasad recounting tales of his late father Mr. L.V. Prasad. Waiting for the show to start 😬

Meanwhile China enjoying the show:

Who'd have thought that the US and Europe would be on opposite sides in World War 3?

My boy Conan did well. The Academy, unsurprisingly, did not.

In advance of the Oscars tonight: a lot of comedy heroes let you down. They become unfunny/bitter/closed minded. Conan is the exception. He has grown & evolved & is funnier than he’s ever been. He’s also an extremely kind and lovely human. Just a sincere post to say: Conan rules.

I discovered Gene Hackman pretty late in my life, but what a discovery. Goodbye, Gene, and thanks for the wonderful performances. 💔 (..his wife and dog, too, sadly. RIP)

Has the Conclave oscar campaign gone too far?

Sick of Windows and it's buggy experience. Switching to Ubuntu after almost a decade. Let's see how this goes. 🤞🏽

Just finished reading Peter Biskind's 'Easy Riders, Raging Bulls.' I know a lot of it is exaggerated, but even the tamer stuff paints an unflattering image of the '70s new age auteurs. My biggest takeaway was that a lot of my favourite directors were just insecure, narcissistic perverts.

If Basil Joseph's in a film, that's a good sign. Ponman is a fun film. Every two months, a Malayalam film comes out to remind us that the standards of Telugu cinema writing are in the gutter.

Found it on reddit. Couldn't have articulated it better myself.

TIL that Mickey J. Meyer is a MAGAt. Disappointed 'cause I like his music. 😤

I wrote a few sentences and got distracted by a stray thought about Scorsese which led me on an hour long search for a specific interview of his. Couldn't find it. 🙃

What goes around comes around.

I'm gonna use this site as an accountability partner for my writing. You'll witness my procrastinating ability in all its glory. Apologies in advance.

These things are similar to that astrologer your relative takes you to. They say a lot of nice things, a few ominous things, but mostly nice things to make you feel good. And it worked. I do feel good. 😎

పిల్లల పొడుపు కథల పుస్తకంలో ఇట్టాంటివి పెట్టొచ్చా యువరానర్!

Telugu movies stealing music from the west (or the east) is not new, but the funniest thing I've found recently is Koyaanisqatsi playing in the background several times in Puri's 'Neninthe.'
