Oh so you want to be an author? I hope you enjoy trying not to have a menty b while you constantly refresh your inbox.

This is the point where most authors would realise that the plot hole is so big the whole thing needs chucked and started again.

I've found myself between books again, so I have time to take on a few more website clients over the next couple of months. I try to make it as easy as possible — a quick yap about what you're looking for, then let me at it! Details & portfolio below: vikkipatisauthor.com/services/por...

We Are All Palestine Action. And louder, for those at the back: WE ARE ALL PALESTINE ACTION!! Whatever they *attempt* to legislate, we will defend dissent, protect the right to protest, and fight for people over profit: we will not be silenced, we will be ungovernable.

BREAKING: the EHRC has formally abandoned its contention that employers need to provide single sex toilets. goodlaw.social/4npg

I've recently lost my writing groove because publishing is ✨stressful✨ and the world is going to shit, but tomorrow I'm going to try to find it again by doing the only thing I can do: putting my bum in the chair and opening my laptop.

Spotify is gash, and I'd been putting off finding an alternative, but I finally downloaded Tidal today. I moved over my playlists for a one-off fee (£4ish), only a few songs were missing, and I couldn't be happier.

This is very helpful and enlightening. Note that the EHRC have now explicitly said that they will accept consultation submissions questioning /challenging their interpretation of the Supreme Court ruling.

Publishing books at the dawn of the apocalypse be like: #writersky #indieauthor

it’s even more demoralizing when the history you’re repeating is history you were around for the first time

You fucking show restraint, you weasel.

Waking up on a Sunday morning to read that the US has bombed Iran, and the UK is probably involved too. Unbelievable, and yet unsurprising.

Open letter calling for an inquiry into the EHRC. I’ve just signed. organise.network/actions/peti...

Remembering this great tweet on the Summer Solstice

Allow me to introduce you to this absolute banger for Pride Month, and the inspiration for the title of This Hell (Is Better With You), my insane ghost story that I can hopefully share news on soon! open.spotify.com/track/6A6yKp...

The solstice brought some wild dreams, but my favourite was probably the one where I killed a bad man and a whole bunch of women were doing their darndest to help me get away with it. Women ❤️

I've been looking forward to this book since I learned of its existence. Jennifer's Body meets Teeth with generational trauma and vivid Vietnamese folklore, What Hunger is THE coming-of-age horror story that proves hell really is a teenage girl. Coming 12th August by @dangitcat.bsky.social

PUblic service reminder for authors: the PLR deadline is 30th June. Just got a nudge email from my agent so I am nudging you all. Do NOT leave it to the last minute cos then there's no chance to talk to anyone about any questions cos they're all flat out! #KidLItUK #AuthorSky

Going to the hairdresser is lovely and all, but there's something therapeutic about chopping your own hair off.

A shady woodland walk with Vixen and a splash in the river in this crazy heat ☀️

My review of Of Beasts by @mjaneworma.bsky.social. A truly stunning queer horror that will stay with me for a long time. Coming Feb 2026 from @clashbooks.bsky.social

Huge congratulations to Helen Heckety for winning the 2025 ADCI Prize! Thrilled to be a runner-up in this fantastic group. @quercusbooks.bsky.social

“i asked chat gpt” “i asked grok” Jeeves would kill you where you stand

People who abstained from voting to decriminalise abortion: -Wes Streeting (health secretary) -Bridget Phillipson (women and equalities minister) -Rosie Duffield (top feminist and woman defender)

My Kobo has been having some issues, so it is with a heavy heart that I return to my old Kindle for the time being. I shan't be buying any ebooks via Amazon though.

Wonderful news! The fight back begins! Abortion is not a crime and we are human beings not incubators 🥳 www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

Very common take right now but will companies stop forcing AI down our fucking throats?? AI chat assistants that can't answer the question, AI in our emails suggesting terrible responses, articles written by AI that give shit advice. We really are in the worst of times.

First up today, and another first watch for me. A disturbing insight into the ferocity of girlhood, with some ropey acting and special effects.

Whoops

Rounding off today with Fear Street: Prom Queen. I don't know what everyone's been complaining about; it's fun, camp, and has a banging soundtrack.
