It’s not enough for us to simply be in spaces with safe people. We will often bring the trauma, rejection sensitivity, emotional baggage, and pain suffered from people and spaces that have harmed us. Self-love is a start, but not the final move. We also need the tools to begin to heal.

Kids learn boundaries, ‘acceptable’ behaviors, and right vs wrong from the adults around them. They watch to see what YOU do as they make sense of the world. How you interact with others, move through the world, and respond to others’ actions drives their understanding of what is okay for them.

It's hard to even think about setting boundaries when you've been programmed by your family to assume you are the "troublemaker" or "problem" in any given situation. Trauma Brain will try to tell you your desire for boundaries is "selfish" or "dramatic"-- but it's not.
