Americans have no idea how capricious, complex, and opaque our immigration process really is. Your barely literate ancestors just stepped off a boat---today it's decades of forms, interviews, and yes THOUSANDS of dollars.

Nice work guys 🫣

Peters to Noem: "It's costing about $100,000 a day to keep someone in Guantanamo Bay. This is like ripe for DOGE. Why is DOGE not down there? ... we could keep them here for $165 a day."

The comment period for this ends in 3 DAYS. Please leave a comment telling them EVERYONE should be able to get covid boosters. www.regulations.gov/commenton/FD...

In addition to healthy people who just, you know, DON'T WANT TO GET COVID with the attendant risk of long covid (which can happen to anyone, no matter how previously healthy) — this will hurt households where one person is at high risk and their loved ones can't get vaccinated to help protect them

Brad Holmes gave the commencement speech at North Carolina A&T last week. I went to watch him deliver it. What I got was a true sense of what the university means to him and him to the university. My Sunday long read on the Lions GM and the school that shaped him www.freep.com/story/sports...

This slippery slope is steep as hell. Justice Sotomayor called it: if the government can strip birthright citizenship from kids born here, what stops them from stripping gun rights too? Remember this later; Trump and Republicans opened the door. Watch til the end…

Eliminating a famous program that cost just $32 million but delivers an estimated $40 billion in annual savings on utility bills just as our nation faces increasing costs & soaring demands has to be one of the dumbest public policy choices on a very competitive list. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/06/c...

Used this example to explain to my daughter why the West Wing episode I was watching was . . . set in a different world.

For everyone who was like “Google search is getting worse,” we were absolutely right.

I need you to make calls to Congress because on Tuesday, the House Committee responsible for Medicaid is meeting to slash funding for Medicaid—the health program 80 million Americans rely on, the health program that has kept me alive. This piece is not paywalled, it is not locked—please share it.

RFK Jr. is tasking scientists with finding "the cause" of autism—using Medicare and Medicaid data. Yes, insurance billing records. Let’s discuss why that’s preposterous. 🧵

To be a Christian is to be Entirely Done and Truly Hopeful at the same exact time

The civil war in Sudan has killed over 150K, displaced over 14M and left over half the population facing starvation — while Trump's foreign aid cuts have forced 80% of emergency kitchens to close. We must use all leverage we have to help end the violence and we MUST restore U.S. aid.

"What did PBS shows teach you?" Mister Rogers taught us feelings are mentionable and manageable. Reading Rainbow taught us discovering books is joy. Sesame Street taught us learning through the kindness of community by way of our friends. Bill Nye taught us to observe wonder through science.

Ohio Woman should get together with Florida Man.

Fondly remembering my Vatican tour last year where we were herded like cattle through the Sistine Chapel for about 3 minutes.

Old enough to remember when the line from the right was providing more information to consumers was a better, more market friendly approach than regulating products.

1. Alt text is always a kindness and also extends the audience for what you want to present. 2. Screenshot the material, then go to the original and copy the text with your cursor, post the screenshot, then paste the text into the ALT field. Super-simple and takes only a couple of seconds.

See again: If they’ll do it for you, they’ll do it to you.

There it is, in a nutshell.

Relieved to hear this. Things are bad enough without jumping ahead to what could be. Still…hoping to get to the museum ASAP.

OPINION: If our new political order is so against us, then why or how should Christians work to “renew” or “redeem” it? If our neighbors despise us this much, it seems foolish, naive, or “weak” to try to engage them winsomely. religionnews.com/2025/04/25/w...

Pope Francis' words to live by: "Tenderness is not weakness; it is fortitude. It is the path of solidarity, the path of humility. Please, allow me to say it loud and clear: the more powerful you are, the more your actions will have an impact on people, the more responsible you are to act humbly."

Scene: Easter service children's message Pastor: "What else happens because of Easter?" Child with severe autism: "I play baseball!" Pastor: "Yes, I know you do play baseball!" Here ends the lesson of the gospel of grace. Let those who have ears to hear and lead public health agencies hear.

If one quote from a insurance exec ever summed up the American healthcare experience, this might be that quote: www.propublica.org/article/blue...

While the gospels say that Judas led the Romans to Jesus, a new theory is gaining traction with some Biblical scholars. There is evidence, some say, that Judas merely shared Christ's location on an insecure group chat that accidentally included several Roman officials and journalists.
