The more I think about the religion plot in The Phoenician Scheme, the more I like it. The film's Catholics thread the needle of being wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Able to parry bad faith moral arguments ("But is slavery condemned in the Bible?" "It's damnable!"),

I liked most of the Two-Face comic, but the ending is dreadful. As a cliffhanger before the next story arc, sure, but as a finale, very disappointing. And most of all, I don’t think Batman believes this. He just couldn’t.
