Anyone receiving NIH Grant terminations for Diversity Supplements but also add anti-DEI language and you just can’t accept the DEI language..so you can’t accept the termination? What a mess.

Uh oh

Can we also call them the Bullies of the United States? Such disgusting behavior today.

We are feeling the downstream effects of this. To get rid of biomedical research funding would be to have a leading agency in health and research fall from it's well earned pedestal.

The red states will suffer the most. FAFO.

The thing about destroying NIH is NIH’s scale in medical research just dwarfs everyone else. For ex, in 2023 the American Cancer Society gave out $64.5 million worth of grants. Sounds big, right? But NIH’s budget was $49 billion. With a B. Kill NIH and the floor drops out of US science.

Another sad day for science..

Got word that several NIH employees in a group working on cancer clinical trials got terminated via email this evening. “The [cancer research] trials will literally not be able to function without us.” Trump and Musk are killing cancer research. 🧪

“America has the best medical research in the world…” You mean we used to… this administration has tarnished our reputation in every single way.

We are hearing today that NIH is restarting issuing grant awards — that is, for awards already approved by council, or renewals that normally happen as matter of course, money will start going out. Caution, though, before we interpret this as a win... 1/ 🧪

The NIH capping the indirect cost rate (IDC) for grants at 15% can best be described as a direct assault on Universities. It’s such a bureaucratic, innocuous sounding thing that actually means that research universities will be kneecapped. Thousands of employees across the US will lose their jobs.

The new NIH policy for indirect costs going forward is capped at 15%. This is forever going to alter the science ecosystem, upending and destroying a number of programs at universities across the country. grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

Research administrators are plugging along, submitting proposals, but at the same time internally panicking about the absolute lack of awards issued and zero to no communication from most agencies (namely NIH). The silence is frightening, we’re worried for our jobs.

🚨RED ALERT for 🧪: The Trump NIH just gashed indirect costs. This is a direct attack on universities. “Pursuant to this Supplemental Guidance, there will be a standard rate of 15% across all NIH grants for indirect costs.” 😮 Just a devastating Friday night news dump. #scicomm #academicaky

And yet nothing will happen because the AG in Washington will stop it. There are no people left to prosecute this criminal behavior, only those that are supporting it. What real power do Dems have at this point?

I wholeheartedly feel like this election had interference. What makes it worse is that I have no hope for the next cycle midterm elections- who is to say those aren’t already or will easily fixed in their favor? It feels unstoppable at this point, and there are no more fair and free elections.
