Here's the thing: The German government simply decided, based on no legal precedent, that certain people were no longer citizens. They simply declared that Jews were no longer German citizens, so they could detain them, deport them, torture them, and even kill them indiscriminately.

Sociologically, these protests matter a LOT. Humans base their behavior on what they believe is embraced and celebrated by others. Being ostracized is an existential threat for our species. Normalizing resistance & shunning the POTUS parade tells others what is normal & expected by the group.
