Today is the birthday of Whitney Ellsworth (Nov. 27, 1908-Sept. 7, 1980). A writer & editor for National Allied Publications/DC Comics during the Golden Age, he worked on the Superman movie serials, and became a producer & story editor on The Adventures of Superman tv show.

METAMORPHO #1. I suspect by now Lieber's the modern artist with most form in this quirky area of the superhero space, but when I read this, I just kept thinking back to the energy of Ewing's earliest photocopied zines. And Zombo. A good thing, of course. In shops Dec 25th. FOC is tomorrow?
