How should Queens spend #ThePeoplesMoney? ALL New Yorkers 11 and older can decide. VOTE in NYC’s citywide Participatory Budgeting process through June 25! on.nyc.gov/pb

NYC, please don’t blow this.

Anyway, if you can’t tell I am struggling with getting to work today due to these transit challenges.

I’m in an area of queens where public transit is, to put it nicely, an absolute joke. It’s unreliable and not fully accessible. Getting to work is a nightmare. Getting *anywhere* is a nightmare unless you’re driving.

Any extra puppy time I get in a day is precious. So when she bangs on the closet door where her leash and harness are kept, I will always give in even if it means nearly missing my train 🤣

Woke up at 5. Finished my book for book club tonight, got myself ready for work in record time, and took the dog for a small stroll. I’m finding the more I start my mornings with productivity, the easier it is to fight executive dysfunction and task paralysis.

It’s Sunday. I woke up at 6am to shape two loaves of sourdough and get them coldproofing. Since then, I had breakfast with my dog, baked a third loaf of sourdough, did a load of dishes and laundry, and took the puppy for a walk.

A Lost Apothecary sequel 😭😭 What did we do to deserve this? I’m vibrating with excitement. 💙📚

This weekend was so busy. Again I managed to only put down 851 words for day 9. The silver lining is even if I don’t hit the goal I am still sitting down to write every day, and that feels good. I’m ready for the final stretch to finish strong #1000wordsofsummer

I'm imagining ICE doing to NYC what it's doing to LA — and the people of NYC responding the way people are in LA — and it all happening under Mayor Cuomo. He'll side with ICE, DHS and, of course, the NYPD. This man, who hates the city and doesn't live here, can not become mayor. Don't rank him.

I didn’t make it 😭 859 but tomorrow is another day #1000wordsofsummer

No joke I really thought I saw Andrew in jacks mannequin for the last time 10 years ago. I cherished the bits of music he played from this era during his wilderness shows. But tonight to hear my favorite songs again live was just a picture of perfection

Seeing jacks mannequin live never gets old. #mfeotour

498 words down so far! The rest are going to have to wait until after I relive my teenage years on the rooftop of Pier 17 screaming my lungs out to Dark Blue. #1000wordsofsummer

Me: Is parry the right word here? My husband: Maybe spar? but that's like practice Me: yeah that works, I'm not really describing a battle just gay panic.

Sitting down to garden and get my words in before the show tonight.

I’m seeing jack’s mannequin for the first time in 10 years tonight on a rooftop in New York City. It rained 10 years ago, and it’s raining now. Feels like a full circle moment.

Day 7 coming in at 1047! #1000wordsofsummer

Writing is very much a muscle. Use it or lose it. You don’t realize how true those words are until you’ve spent the better part of the year completely unable to do it. Now that I’ve been back at it multiple days in a row, I’m sad I ever stopped.

Coming in at 1026! These words dedicated to the miracle of staying awake past 11pm #1000wordsofsummer

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has endorsed fellow Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as her first choice for New York City mayor.

Fun fact: Taylor swift wrote Foolish One about me. Because here I am once again waiting until 9:45pm to start writing 🤣 #1000wordsofsummer #iwillnotfallasleep

I wish them both the worst.

Happy Birthday, Pete Wentz.

I put this contraption together for my sweet nephew today.

Small reading update while I am done with my writing shift! I just started Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert. 💙📚

1056 today! Very exciting #1000wordsofsummer

Okay well day 5 off to a much better start. 676 done before work! #1000wordsofsummer

I can’t believe I spent four years pretending I didn’t miss the 2008 version of Fearless.

Day 4 didn’t go my way. The words were coming but I was too exhausted to keep my eyes open. 482 words only for me #1000wordsofsummer

I am just starting my words now. I spent a little too much time in my garden. But away we go!

One thing I love about participating in the 1000 words of summer, besides the blossoming community of brilliant writers, is it makes me realize I absolutely CAN write 1000 words a day. Fairly effortlessly. But I let so much else get in the way that I seem to let go of these two weeks.

I forgot to make a day 3 update yesterday. I hit 1006 by some miracle #1000wordsofsummer

The most used app on my iPad is the find my iPhone app.

1036 today. The words didn’t come as easy today, but they came. And now I can play Disney dreamlight valley to my hearts content. #1000wordsofsummer

Happy Pride Month 🩷💜💙

The second day of #1000wordsofsummer is upon us, featuring a letter from the amazing writer Karen Russell, author most recently of The Antidote! 1000wordsofsummer.substack.com/p/day-2-of-1...

1067! #1000wordsofsummer

The way my poor father just goes along with any antic of mine. Any concert. Any sporting event. Any movie. Any random ass adhd project I dream up. He’s there with bells on.

The next two weeks my feed might be flooded with more writing updates and less reading updates. Let the #1000wordsofsummer begin!

Taylor has excellent timing. The 1000 words of summer kicks off tomorrow, and these six albums just became the soundtrack.

My tummy is my biggest bully.
