The DG of Conservation now has the power to approve the killing of endangered species, if they get in the way of roads, mines, or other infrastructure “priorities.” It’s a law written by capitalism, passed by colonisers in suits, and signed with the blood of our disappearing species.

This is true for #nzpol as well We need to stop thinking that this behaviour of tanking ferries, throwing NZ money to billionaires & ciggy companies etc is because they're stupid. It's toxic & it's wrong. The plan IS to take away our social goods & we need to combat it with everything we have.

So we borrowed to pay for tax cuts and now we have to cut health, education etc to prove to the world that we can cover our debts. Really. #NZpol

When someone says "but they already paid out their settlement" point out these numbers. It's a disgrace that we give more money to landlords over this term than has been paid for all treaty claims so far. This land is Māori land and we haven't come close to righting the wrongs since 1840 #nzpol

I often think about trust and politicians. I'm small fry, local govt, and we still struggle with councillors who have made bad decisions or behaved poorly in the past and that legacy haunting anyone in office now. It's so hard to rebuild. So MPs who voted for pay equity, now voting to undo it

A few days ago Mike Hosking gave Luxon his marching orders and today National are on to it. Such good little soldiers our National Party #nzpol #kiwi

“ANZ & ASB are potentially facing big penalties for breaking disclosure laws that protect mortgage holders. Tens of thousands of NZers may be owed 1000s of $$. But instead of helping those people get what they’re owed, National is trying to rewrite the rules so the banks don’t have to pay. #nzpol

FFS. A doctorless hospital?? Sending home a stroke patient with no treatment, after a US TELEHEALTH consult is #Malpractice. But of course, we know who to blame for allowing this to happen....⬇️⬇️⬇️ #ChrisLuxon #DavidSeymour #WinstonPeters #NZsEconomicVandals #nzpol www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/the-docto...

Riddle me this, riddle me that; When are cuts not called cuts? Answer:when they're done by National's nuts. The second worst thing about all this is that Ministers Reti & Doocey treat us like idiots, hoping their responses are credible, that we'll swallow their bullsh*t. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Something I want us to reeeeeeeeeally think about on the left in Aotearoa is how happily the right throw out legislation that had bipartisan support when it suits them. On climate, on equal pay, on housing. Maybe we don't need to moderate and minimise our best policies in pursuit of fake consensus.

No ferries: $5b Landlord tax cuts $2.5b Total Treaty claims across ALL TIME $2.7b. There's a rort going on here and it's not with the fucking tribunal.

This current coalition are seeking to absolutely shred the fabric of this countries foundation. Te Tiriti is what allows this kawanatanga to govern. Additionally, the Waitangi Tribunal should have a lot more power than it currently has. Fuck you Tama Kupapa. #nzpol #ToitūTeTiriti

The message to women is that if you're nice and polite and do things through the correct channels in very proper ways... We'll still fuck you over at a moment's notice because we fundamentally don't value you. So why the hell should anyone be nice and polite. #nzpol

#PayEquity @julieannegenter 💚 7 May 2025 #nzpol "The cost is REAL for those 100s of 1000s of women who are our teachers, our nurses, our midwives, our care & support workers, the people looking after the elderly & dying - and this govt is giving them the finger. Saying 'We are gonna make them wait'"

At our Auckland rally today. Instead of tryna define us, just pay us.

A great clip of Georgie Dansey and Holly Walker speaking to the media at today's protest about pay equity in Hamilton. You can watch the full clip here: www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/nationwid...

In New York, ICE detained a busload of farmworkers that were actively involved in a union drive. In Washington state, ICE dragged a farmworkers’ rights activist and leader out of his car to detain him. Be warned: attacking unions is a hallmark of fascism.

From my 3rd reading speech on the Dumping Pay Equity Act passed under urgency Wed. The “problem” with the law we passed in 2020 was that it was too successful at getting underpaid, mostly female professionals better pay.

In the spirit of being tough on crime they all need to be locked up, extended sentences, no parole. Fairs, fair after all. If a burglar robbed a bank they'd get all the above. #nzpol

Hey, the economy is flatlining and unemployment is way up. Winston: SHOW ME YOUR GENITALIA CITIZEN Seymour: Stop the Waitangi Tribunal Luxon: Women would only spend that money on shoes anyway

Really stoked with the numbers at today’s Kirikiriroa Hamilton protest - raining and still folks turned up ✊

So how the pay equities arrangement worked before Tuesday's urgency was like this. Pay equity is indeed quite complex, and straight simple industry comparisons weren't actually used because of such. What was instituted when a pay equity claim was lodged was a deep dive into what a role involved.

Just in case you weren't already outraged by enough today .... Our NZ banks make, on average, $100M net profit, PER WEEK! we don't have a cost of living crisis in AoNZ, we have a cost of corporate greed problem.

In today’s NZ Herald #nzpol

Good piece on Govt Debt by Jonathan Milne. Includes this from Shamubeel Eaqub “So yes discipline is necessary – but Willis should also be clear this discipline is necessary because they implemented tax cuts they could not afford.”

I went to check if the Women's Rights Party had said anything about the governments plans to roll back pay equity legislation. These are their only posts from yesterday

Judith Collins when the Labour tried to defer pay equity in 2017, “What we’re seeing today is that this new Labour-led government is happy to say to NZ women, ‘Go take another two years, honey. Go take another two years because you’re not going to be man enough to stand up for yourself.’ " 🤦‍♀️ #nzpol

US science in decline, New Zealand already leading the way. #nzpol

Hey so actual medical professionals are not allowed to make public submissions on matters of public health, but alcohol lobbyists can get Health NZ information removed and contribute to policy? This is fucking awful

bsky can I get a signal boost for this pls? My mate Robbie is going to be the first trans person to cycle around the world and needs someone to certify his record for Guinness in Auckland around 1pm on Saturday
