Does crossing the pond affect crystal quality? No!

Metalloproteins are so fun to work with! πŸŒˆπŸŽ‰

Welcome to bluesky @ccp4mx.bsky.social!

Join the 22,339 people who have joined to support our NIH colleagues. Let's get this to 50,000 RT

I am sitting in a public library working on a grant, and a grandmotherly woman is patiently teaching a small boy how to read at the table next to me. Another woman is knitting nearby. The children’s section is packed with kids. Things in my country are bleak, but libraries are where I find hope. ❀️

I urge others to similarly support our patriots at NIH who use their training and talents to improve human health and position the US as the world’s leader in biomedical discovery, innovation and technology development πŸ™

The #BethesdaDeclaration stories are now up on the front pages of both the New York Times and the Washington Post. Thanks again to the brave folks at NIH who stood up and worked together to make this happen. 1/n

Today is the last day to comment on schedule F, Russ Vought's plan to politicize the civil service, by making many positions political appointments. Please take the time to comment today. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/last-day-t...

Here is an example of a Schedule F comment. The same basic logic applies all the way up to institute directors in my view.

ATTENTION: I am working on a project and need some assistance. If anyone might have some time this weekend, particularly if you are in a red state, please DM me (and provide an email address and/or cell number) or reach me on Signal (jeremymberg.78). THANK YOU!

Starting the summer out with a lab lunch outing to welcome Samantha Arnone for her summer research in the lab! Watched over by Mr. Burns at Betty's. Tiffany Wright, Chris Campomizzi, PhD, @mumstheword17.bsky.social & @gabbygrowsxtals.bsky.social πŸ§ͺ πŸ”¬ πŸ’Ž

Want your NIH and NSF program officers and division directors to be fired and turned into political appointees? Deadline extended: 3 days left! Already 33,000+ public comments Comments can tank a proposed rule in court. πŸ“£ Oppose the rule with a brief comment: shorturl.at/WKuBj

My Canadian university, Queen's, is offering TWENTY 4-year funded PhDs (40k CAD/yr) for a student of ANY citizenship who has been accepted at a top 100 US university but have had offer rescinded OR are reconsidering offer due to US policy. Details found hereπŸ‘‡ www.queensu.ca/grad-postdoc...

if you’re tired of Word/excel/PPT asking to save files to OneDrive and would rather default to your local computer, it’s in Preferences > Save - uncheck the top box (whose wording sounds nothing like having this functionality)

Nice summary of our ipSAE score for rescoring protein-protein and protein/nucleic-acid interactions in AF2, AF3, and Boltz-1. It works better than ipTM for full-length Uniprot sequences.

This is an accurate way to describe the science cuts, heck, it describes what they are doing across the whole federal government #StandUpForScience #resist

@getacrystal.bsky.social & SSRL are out in force teaching at the New Opportunities for Structural Biology Research Workshop in TN this week! Thanks Jamaine Davis for making the workshop happen & the invite! Nice work @gabbygrowsxtals.bsky.social, Tiffany, Darya & Crissy! @ubuffalo.bsky.social

Just in time for Pride month! Celebrating our recent publication in @actacrystf.iucr.org by highlighting our rainbow of protein crystals! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ’Ž Great to work with @gabbygrowsxtals.bsky.social & Vivian Stojanof on this paper! doi.org/10.1107/S205... #crystallization #crystals #structuralbiology

ASSIGNMENT: COMMENT ON SCHEDULE F 1 week left to comment about Schedule F, potentially making NIH institute and center director essentially political appointees. www.regulations.gov/commenton/OP... 1/n

Proud of Harvard for pushing back, exercising some creativity, and, maybe, helping folks get some needed education. Harvard is making many of their online government courses FREE. I just signed up for "Citizen Politics in America". They even asked me my Gender. pll.harvard.edu/subject/gove...

Another week, another NIH Guide with no new funding opportunities. Lost track of the number of weeks now - let's just call it n+1.

An important way to use your voice if you want access to COVID vaccines. I did it and it takes 5min. Opportunity to comment ends tonight!

Brief victory celebration and NEW ASSIGNMENT More than 27,000 comments posted regarding Schedule F implementation! 1/n

*Ring Ring* Hello. This is your constituent. I’m calling you because I HATE cancer but I LOVE innovation.

Keep calling your representatives everyone! Perhaps one call won’t make a difference but if we all call the message may get through

The goal of biomedical research is not just to help and save those who are already seen as healthy, but to protect the vulnerable as their lives matter too.

Out now in @chemicalscience.rsc.org: We apply 2DIR spectroscopy to study [FeFe] hydrogenase for the first time. Check it out! pubs.rsc.org/en/content/a...

1/3 PLEASE READ, LIKE, REPOST this "1/3" post There is a Senate Hearing May 14th with RFK Jr to discuss Trump's proposed HHS budget. Please find call/email the members of the committee every day until then (I have compiled contact info for the members in post 2/3)

>90% of us use data produced by federally-supported science, such as weather forecasts, job market reports, food safety warnings, etc. But only 10% are concerned that cuts to federal support for science might impact their access to this data. πŸ€”πŸ«€πŸ§© www.npr.org/2025/05/06/n...

Great 🧡 on the path to the discovery and lifesaving uses of adrenaline…

Read this thread. A beautiful, personal & historical account of human scientific discovery & the resulting health impacts for us today (including, thankfully, for @iochromaland.bsky.social's son). Touching and timely

On Friday, my son stayed home from school because he had a sore throat and wasn’t feeling well. He went with my husband to his office for the morning while I handled our daughter. When he came back at lunch, he was not interested in eating, saying his throat hurt too much. 1/n
