Having seen FINAL RECKONING 2x, I'm more impressed with Cruise's performance. He's so good at acting the scenes before the scene he's in, for context (like not overdoing how cold he was in the water while talking to the sub team, but not totally thawed out yet); also he's comfortable with his age.

Five favorite black & white movies: I Am Cuba Psycho Manhattan Scarface (1932) Persona

Adaptation: The Shining Book: The Long Walk

Indiana-Oklahoma City will be the first NBA Finals where you can't legally bring a James Baldwin book to any of the games.

The best thing to come from this Knicks season may be a new movie directed by Spike Lee starring Timothée Chalamet. Totally shipping this new pair of friends.

The 11 year-old in me has been giggling for a while at ESPN’s headline “thunder blow out nuggets”

The runtime police are out in full force over FINAL RECKONING being 2:49. Its predecessor was 2:43 and packed in enough awesome shit to fill 4 hours if it were so inclined. Luckily Cruise and McQuarrie know what they’re doing and haven’t once faltered. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.

My cousin’s name is Kia, but she drives an electric Hyundai. Isn’t it Ioniq? Don’t you think?

TIL: D-Wade’s first name is actually spelled Dwyane. Even iPhone tries to autocorrect it (understandably) to “Dwayne” but there you go. NBA trivia.

My first industry meeting when I moved to Los Angeles was James Foley (family friend contact). He had an hour to meet for lunch. Invited me to The Ivy on Robertson. We started talking movies and long after the plates were taken away he was still telling stories. 2 hrs later we left. RIP to a great.

This thread is fantastic.

TIL: Ryan Coogler went to Sac. St. for football. Took a film class to fill credits. Professor asked him to stay after class for a chat. Thought he was being kicked out. Prof told him he had loads of talent. Applied to USC after an injury. Rest is history. Also, his USC roommate? Ludwig Göransson.

NYG front office: Do we have a good O-line or D-line? No. Do we have a good secondary? No. Do we have any good skill position players? Malik Nabers, I guess. Do we have any good QBs? Yes! Russell Wilson AND Jameis Winston! So what do we do in the draft? Trade up and take a QB!

John Lithgow, now’s your chance!
