Just this guy, you know? (he/him) gamer (videot and TTRPG), avid reader, coffee lover, and music lover. Queer, hermit, and sometimes tired of the world. I cook for a living.

Several garbage bags later (I had stuff that went out up to 5 years ago in my baking cabinet, oops!) I have cleaned out a lot. Still working on things, of course, and tomorrow will be more spring cleaning. Time to air out the place and feel better with my living space, to help my mental health.

Spring cleaning, and going scorched earth on the kitchen. It’ll be nice to get it done.

The All American Rejects have been playing "house party" type pop-ups in the midwest. Partly as a big finger to the mainstream bullshit of ticketmaster, partly as a throwback to what they were when they started. Sounds like such a fun way to learn of the band, for those not old enough to know them.

I met a guy yesterday morning who was proud that he has "nothing connected". No internet banking, doesn't have online accounts, nothing. Requires paper and physical and whatever. He also had his social security number and drivers license scanned into his notes in his iPhone. Make it make sense.

Switching to graveyard shift for a week. Spending the day with comfort entertainment; Stardew Valley or watching Elementary. Gonna make soup for dinner and stay up all night, and just relax.

Ugh, the piracy posts are starting to pop up in my feed (if you don't really own what you buy then piracy isn't stealing). If you're going to pirate, just do it. But stop constantly trying to rationalize how you shouldn't feel guilt over it. You sound like you feel guilt. Just shut up about it

Bread and cheese sauce for dinner. Healthy? Not really. Good for the soul? Yes.

Stuff I should do (got the bare minimum done at least). Just want to hide from the world. New game of Stardew Valley, I have not played in many a patch so a lot to do. Comfort, cozy, hiding. Gonna hafta stop being such a hermit soon though.

Switch 2 news brings trolls who feel the need to share their Nintendo hatred on any thread the machine is brought up in, typically in rude and uncivilized ways. block list is gonna get bigger. But mostly I stick to the rules of my pinned note, no interaction, not really worth my time.

I sorta follow the GGdiscussion subreddit so I stay somewhat aware of the GamerGate BS without following the really toxic Kotakuinaction. GGdiscussion is no longer moderated as it was in the past, I am seeing a lot more anti-LGBTQ+ stuff, racism, and fascist stuff pop up. fucking gamergate

Good Will Hunting. I haven't seen that movie in more than 20 years. Still a good movie. I miss Robin Williams, he was such a good actor.

Dogma. I had forgotten how well cast that movie was. Plus how much I enjoyed the writing. Alanis Morissette briefly as god was so fun. The entire cast made what was a somewhat silly movie work so well. They put so much into the roles and made the serious bits work so well. Such a good movie.

Sometime when people are ordering something getting the info out of them is like pulling teeth. Like, dammit, just answer my damn question so I can get you what you want! Waiting for an order somewhere and it’s nice to hear that people are that way here also.

Trying to figure out which browser to use. Chrome killed adblocking, so gone. Opera GX doesn't do video playback well. Firefox feels really really clunky and slow (but does do video playback well) Trying Floorp next. Firefox fork from Japan. Thus far I do like it, we shall see.

Plans for my weekend change, the person I was going to help move has been delayed. Instead I shall work on cleaning my own space I suppose. Also play videot games or read. Oh, and I did get a Switch 2 pre-order, so happy about that. Gotta find what joy I can as the world burns.

Apparently saying "Death of the author works a lot better when the author has the good sense to be dead" on Reddit will get your account reported. I guess it's promoting violence. Still, it is what I believe of She Who Must Not Be Named. There is no "Death of the Author" with her works right now.

Well, I didn't quite have the failure to start day today as I did yesterday. BUT, I was asked to start work 3 hours early tomorrow, so I have sorta had my productivity ended. I can do grocery shopping tomorrow after work, cause I'm off earlier. Just means scrounge for dinner and then off to bed.

Watching die hard for the first time in 30 years. Carrying a gun on a plane. Smoking in a public airport. Basically zero security at the office building. 10 minutes in and so much that has changed in almost 40 years.

Total failure to launch day. Just hiding from the world, just not able to function today. Tomorrow is another day.

Reading The Murderbot Diaries. Murderbot is a well written autistic asexual character. I'm really enjoying the books.

Placed a shirt order with Woot, out of nostalgia I guess. It's been like a decade since I ordered from them. The shirts now are a disappointment. Lower quality, run really small, and generally garbage. Sad, I have Woot shirts from almost 20 years ago that are great. Anywho, fuck you nostalgia.

Also, finally, the key only cards Nintendo is doing? Blame Sony and Microsoft, really. I've had physical discs for games that are really just an unlock key, because the entire game had to be downloaded to play. I remember this in the PS3 / Xbox360 era even. This is nothing new.

The more I look at the Switch 2 pricing the more it makes sense, for better or worse. Sony moved games up to the $70 price already. Switch 2 is allowing the sharing of multiplayer games to 3 other people. Multiplayer games are pricing at $80. Actually not a bad deal overall.

Interesting reactions to the Switch 2 stuff. Ignore the r/piracy people and their 'Nintendo is anti-consumer' because those fuckers aren't paying consumers anyways. Ignore the fits about game prices, that ship sailed years ago. Sony started it with $70 on PS5 games. Just wait and see what comes.

Saddened to hear of Val Kilmer passing away today. I find it hilarious that his time as Batman keeps getting mentioned, as it really wasn't his best role. But then, for me, Madmartigan and Chris Knight (Willow and Real Genius) were my favorite roles of his. Maybe I shall watch one this evening.

Just so I can get in on the government 'coming after' me. Tesla looked interesting before Musk took it over. Musk cut corners and helped them produce a substandard piece of crap. Plus Musk clearly idolizes Nazi ideas. So fuck the Swasticar. Don't support Nazis. To hell with Musk.

I've been debating what to read next and I think I've decided (we'll see if I stick to it). Asimov, Foundation series. I've read some of it, and it's been a long time. There is a really good reading order which starts with "I, Robot" and has 10 stories before foundation starts. Let's do it.

Weather is nice and rainy. Cool without being too cold. Feels like spring. Cleaning, cooking, and maybe even making bread needs to be on my list today as I get moving. Not sure how much I'll accomplish, but at least the day feels sorta nice. So putting on some vinyl and just trying to enjoy it.
