Jimmy Carter was the first sitting president to attend a NBA game. He went to a Hawks-Bullets playoff game in 1979. He even took a picture with the Bullets mascot, which was a dachshund named Tiny. Carter said he had been a Hawks fan since the team got started. (Victoria Advocate, April 30, 1979)
