First draft of my second historical/timeslip novel: COMPLETE! Now I can leave it to mature for two weeks while I handle the little matter of my viva voce examination and the completion of my PhD *pteradactyl screeches* But right this minute? Carbs. Oh my Dog so many carbs, you can't even imagine.

"My Toxic Reader Trait is -" Your actual toxic reader trait is your implicit assumption that writers should be able and willing to tailor their books to you. Skip the 1st and last chapters if you want. Skim every page without dialogue. Whatever. Just don't expect us to accommodate you.

A Tale of Two Dresses: this one is flattering and appropriate to the occasion. But this one has pockets. What to do??

I might actually, really and truly finish draft #1 of my second timeslip novel this week. \o/

That thing where you boot up your laptop full of enthusiasm to dive into the next scene of your WIP, only to discover that you've written the whole - the WHOLE, mark you - of the last chapter in THE WRONG FLAMING TENSE and now you will have to fix that instead. YU^&*(O#POY&(£$%^&@!!!!

OK, the levels of sexual chemistry here are getting seriously out of hand. I'm typing feeling as if I should look away from my laptop screen to give these two some privacy... writing and books

Added @zdmarriott.bsky.social’s book to my shelves this morning in my usual alphabetical-by-category order and it ended up in the PERFECT place

Just finished @zdmarriott.bsky.social's THE MOONLIT MAZE, totally unable to put it down. Atmospheric, evocative, romantic, full of lush descriptions and narrative twists and turns, great for fans of Susanna Kearsley or Mary Stewart's early novels. Thoughtful autism rep. Gorgeous cover too!

The Open-Oxford-Cambridge doctoral training partnership - who funded my PhD into timeslip novels! - have put my The Moonlit Maze publication news up on their website: oocdtp.web.ox.ac.uk/news

MY DEBUT HISTORICAL NOVEL IS OUT TODAY! 🥳🎂🎉 The Moonlit Maze is a 'deliciously atmospheric mystery' (Ruth Ware) & 'spellbinding love story' (reader review), filled with 1920s glamour, forbidden love, found family & a hint of a haunting (or is it?). Learn more in comments!

This is out today! I've read it, and its gorgeous 🧡🧡🧡 - Happy Publication Day, Zoe!

If you were going to do a companion actor Doctor, then the only proper answers is a season of Doctor Donna. I will be taking no questions.

Yesterday I wrote the most ravishingly romantic thing that I think has ever come out of my brain, and today I just don't know where to go from here. All I've been able to accomplish is to re-read this scene 3x and cry. I... may have broken myself. Probably time for a break?

Always a very good sign for your WIP when you sit crying over your keyboard like a wee babykins. Not so great for the sinuses, though... *sniff*

'I want you to sit there, girls, and think about what you've done.'

I mean... I suppose that - kind of explains the whole "mavity" thing? #doctorwho #drwho
