I think in part the higher education funding crisis and the LLM-teaching crisis actually strike at the same problem, which is that education doesn't work without a broad, society-wide sense that the *actual content* of education - not the credential - is valuable.

Hannibal Lecture - Sophisticated Monster, intelligent, evil but charismatic. Hannibal Lester - Runs a really bad Warhammer campaign.

Under Trump’s Tax Scam: 1.2 million veterans, 4.8 million seniors and 14.6 million children could go hungry More than 1 million children risk losing access to school meals Grocery costs will skyrocket by over $500 per year for 40 million people, including over 1 million veterans and 1 in 5 kids

also, do not date men whose favorite anime is neon genesis evangelion 🙅🏾‍♀️🙅🏾‍♀️🙅🏾‍♀️ i was warned and didn’t listen, so learn from my mistakes!!!

thinking a lot about how autism and other disabilities would be less of an issue if accommodations and accessibility were just a given and not a thing to be fought for

Why are the democrats so focused on matching public option, except the one that says their entire leadership sucks and should be replaced.

May Day celebrates the progress of working people and honors those who fought for it. As Trump, Musk, and Republicans roll back workers’ rights and strip America down for profit, we’re joining a vast coalition of organizations to turn May 1 into a nationwide day of mobilization. Please join us. 👇

I don't trust Gavin Newsom at all. Not one bit. Any leader who calls the denial of due process and detainment and deportation of a legal resident of this country a "distraction" is just not someone I can trust.

I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you. The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

One of the weirder things to learn about from the administration is that, apparently, Cheryl Hines is apparently a piece of shit.

Got a new one today when the press secretary accused him of being a "human trafficker" just absolutely out of thin air!

Universities will win if they stick together and focus on what's actually important - non-profit teaching and research towards the public good - and ditch this neoliberal idea that the university is just a business like any other.

This administration sent 200+ fathers, sons, and husbands to be tortured in a foreign prison for the rest of their lives. 9 in 10 have no criminal record. None received any due process. If you *aren’t* outraged, you need to check your fucking humanity.

Everybody's Live is basically a podcast except that it's live and it's costs millions and millions of dollars

Ok, so we just want to have a centrally planned economy? I heard those worked out great!

It's really sad that believed this until the last lines

It always boggles my mind that I, a journalist, am expressly forbidden from trading stocks, but members of Congress, with vastly greater knowledge of market-moving news, are allowed to profit by front-running markets, and so may profit by in essence stealing from the public they represent.

If a future Democratic trifecta wanted to float a trial balloon on expanding the Supreme Court, they should expand the lower courts to the point that their appointments in red states are the majority. And scrap the convention of giving the senators of a state a say in who gets nominated.

Also the cowardice and selfishness of several thousand people.

New rule: if you don’t provide a salary range, you don’t get a cover letter. Let’s both withhold information.

They should remake Being John Malkovich three more times, but each time the four leads rotate roles. I'm personally looking forward to Being Catherine Keener where the Johns play a married couple who are seduced by Cameron Diaz.

How cheap would shit have to be before you'd be tempted to eat it?

Nothing makes me uninterested in your campaign faster than referencing Regan in a positive way. Reagan is why we have MAGA. He is the neomaga. Virtually the same playbook that both parties have been running.

"Age verification" laws are actually "upload your ID or get your face scanned to access every website, ending anonymity and associating your identity with everything you do online" laws and if more people understood that they would not be down for this authoritarian nonsense

Just called my Senators and told them as a voting constituent I expect to see them out there on the floor joining Booker and colleagues in speaking out, in delaying, and obstructing everything they can. If you have Dem Senators, call them and tell them to do the same.

Justice prevails.

I was skeptical when Booker started his speech in the evening, thinking it was "performative," and then it occurred to me that *performance* is what we need. We can't get the message out if we don't grab the mic. This is about taking the narrative out of the hands of liars and con artists.

Republicans ran on performative symbolism for 40 years. They won a lot doing it.

New requirement to run for re-election.

Yes, Cory Booker is putting on a *performative show of opposition* to Trump and I think that’s exactly what we need more of right now.

As the type of guy who is normally inclined to pick anything apart I think it’s good Booker is at least trying an attention getting stunt. More of this needed every day.

I just don't see how it's possible for someone to be both born in the year 2000 AND be 25 years old.

We’ve all been trying to figure out how to solve this collective action problem. This seems like a very positive big step in the right direction. Very grateful to whatever combinations of Rutgers workers are included in the faculty senate.

Business man Mark Cuban with the hot take that giving people less money means they will have less money.

Haven't heard much about MOOCs lately. Are they still a thing?

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.
