I wouldn’t follow me if I were you. Posting to get thoughts out of my head so I can see how rubbish they are. Mostly post about politics, rugby, music, TV and movies. @zzypt everywhere else.

Hands down headline of the season www.thetimes.com/article/345d...

Latest on “checks and balances” and “separation of powers”.

128 Democrats vote against impeaching Trump.

An amazing cast for just one episode of Poker Face. and this: Noreen: Then I did a stint as managing editor at Vague before retiring. Charlie: Oh, Vogue, I mean that’s a big deal. Noreen: No, no. Vague magazine, different publication. Charlie: What’s that one about? Noreen: This and that. #TV

So the Tories are voting against (deliberately setting conditions that can't be met). The Bill is on track to be defeated without concessions.

Starmer’s strategy of talking rubbish isn’t working on his MPs any more. People are in *no way* “trapped in” PIP - it pays towards the additional costs of disability, whether you’re working or not - but ppl will be trapped in poverty & forced to give up work/participation in community, without it.

I seem to remember my son's "signing on" process took about 2 years, a massive paper form + supporting documents, an interview, a refusal, a "mandatory reconsideration", another refusal, and - finally - a positive tribunal outcome. PIP is already designed to exclude and hope people don't appeal

Imagine naming a Bill after a woman who called for a pogrom.

You'll have to wait to see the film on the move, but one of the things I am particularly proud about on ROGUE TROOPER is that it FEELS like @2000ad.bsky.social. It's like a beautiful painted comic brought to life. Also worth remembering... This is not a studio film. It's a British Indie!

🚨NEW: Erez Reuveni, the DOJ lawyer fired for his honesty in the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case, sends Congress a whistleblower letter detailing lawlessness at the DOJ around the CECOT deportations. He says Emil Bove told the DOJ to respond to likely court orders blocking flights with "fuck you."

WATCH: “He was cutting grass.” Soboroff & Wallace on the sickening beating of the father of 3 Marines, and how @joerogan says he wouldn’t have signed up if he had know it would be like this, “tearing the fabric of the community”. (But he should have known)

The second point here about sustainability is at least arguable. But PIP does not trap people. In many cases it allows them to work. It's just totally disingenous.

Interesting to see that Cameron Woki's Red card (from England A vs France A) has been struck off, as the Independent Disciplinary Committee decided Woki's action didn't constitute a high degree of danger. www.world.rugby/news/1000848...

Heard from a few people that a lot of PPSs are getting edgy too. Whips are refusing slips so being forced into a decision (unless there are concessions).

I remember saying on X that doing this on the two child limit rebels was a bad idea because the whips had ramped up to 100% straight away and left themselves nowhere to go for a bigger rebellion.

Blogged: by some definitions of politics, MPs don't understand what their job should be: stumblingandmumbling.typepad.com/stumbling_an...

There are absolutely no foreseeable problems with this idea. Not one. www.hsj.co.uk/finance-and-...

Some 100 private jets will fly to Venice for Jeff Bezos' wedding, and I recycle yoghurt cup lids.

Why is their table so big?? What a waste of space...

You’d think someone might ask why distributing aid in Gaza has proceeded like the opening twenty minutes of Saving Private Ryan, every day, for weeks. Is it normal to fire machine guns at starving civilians trying to collect flour? Because we are currently at one, two or three massacres *per day*.

'Whatever malicious thing can be found anywhere in the world can be found [in London]… actors, jesters, smooth-skinned lads, Moors, flatterers, pretty boys... quacks, belly dancers [and] sorcerers'. A visitor to London, 1180.

Pre- Musk I used third party apps for Twitter and my timeline was exactly as it is here, algorithm free, hand made with my own curiosity.

The lack of algorithm on Bluesky tells me that we were fools to accept it elsewhere. We all now talk about how Musk uses it to suppress dissent on twitter, but he hardly invented it. Letting someone else set parameters for what you see is maybe the most poisonous thing that social media normalised.

At the moment it feels like one for Trump, one against; giving themselves some cover against accusations of complicity.

particularly puzzling given that some of the people the administration removed to a third country in defiance of a court order *were taken to CECOT.* they are sitting there right alongside men who were taken there under the Alien Enemies Act.

I’m literally crying with joy this morning, no, wait it’s hayfever again. Constant irritation and annoyance at the pointlessness of it, oh, maybe it is Brexit day.

That's about half the Labour backbenchers - a big rebellion.

For both the FIFA World Cup and LA 2028, I would say the advice would have to be: don’t go. This also holds true for academic conferences.

A reminder: Law Professors: The Constitution still exists and the Courts will protect us. Historians:

Just to put this in a public place so it can be linked to in the future; I actually went to the trouble of asking Natural England if they had ever said "no bat death is acceptable" or anything of similar meaning and this was their reply:

ICE has imprisoned the wife of a Marine veteran who was still breastfeeding a 3-month-old baby because her *mother* failed to attend a hearing in 2018 apnews.com/article/ice-...

RIP Sgt Mohammed Hussain, who died on Friday aged 100. Born in Rawalpindi in pre-partition India, he joined the Army aged sixteen in 1941, fighting in Italy from 1943-45, and later settling in Berkshire where he marked his 100th birthday last month.

Charlie Cox on the Adults episode Roast Chicken is having a lot of fun. #TV

So the Legal Aid Agency was hacked and none of us are getting paid and our bills aren’t even being looked at but we are still all going to work is that about the size of it? Great good ok right another day in the gleaming CJS.

dude this party is such an echo chamber. it's just friends hanging out and chilling and having a good time. you need to invite some people over who want to kill you with hammers

I love Charlie’s Angels and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle is one of my favourite movies.
