I'm in my 50s and my whole life I've not been able to hear what a single person is saying in a noisy pub or club. I'm guessing it's APD but I've always had it.
Tbh, it blows my mind why people go to those places to try to talk to each other, you couldn't design social environments any worse.
I've had hearing tests at various points in my life, nothing unusual. Getting tinnitus and high frequency loss as I'm getting older so at this point I think it's unlikely to improve.
It won't improve, no. But you would possibly benefit from a hearing aid now, especially in those social situations we're supposed not to avoid because of the chatter noise. Stay socialised and keep the little grey cells working ๐
