Executives only care about meeting the KPIs that they themselves made up to begin with. Quantitative data is all that matters and how they get there doesn't. Streaming apps are a great example, they should be facilitating content delivery, but instead they maximize time spent on menus, with more ads

Streaming apps are an excellent example of people constantly respinning the hamster wheel when they could just be....making more stuff to show. It's wild how much they re-lay menus for no goddamn reason.

It would be less work for there to be one centralized streaming app, or one per TV, and just subscribe to the services we want, but instead there are 100 apps and we don't even have standards around how search works.

Not to make actual value for the children using the games.

Not to make more educational opportunities.

Just "How do we flip the switches to make the metric people are looking for look better and then we can tell them it's longer."

Somewhere I have a quote I saved that makes this point: You need to be *very careful* about how you set metrics (for anything) in these situations, because the metric itself will become the goal, not whatever the metric was supposed to be a proxy for.
