inflammation is an immune response. and the immune system attacks itself when it panics. at least with me and my lyme disease. i get brain inflammation.

I feel your pain. Literally. I jumped off of a swing at age 25 & herniated my lower disc to the point of blinding agony. Anything you can do to lower inflammation, do it, but that may be hard with your condition, I am sure. Regular chiropractic care helps too, but only after the swelling leaves

Oh gosh, that sends chills up my spine.
Mine herniated just for fun because I have hypermobility. It's the worst pain I ever experienced.
I'm thinking of contacting my massage therapist soon.
I'm alternating heat and ice, and trying to relax the muscles too. Couldn't turn my head this morning 💀

Yeah, large doses of ibuprofen or the recommended daily doses of Aleve help with inflammation, but be careful with that, since too much wrecks house on your kidneys. I used to thrash my neck from too much head banging to metal music back in the day myself,that was muscle pain. Spinal hits different.

Yeah I actually don't do nsaids, I have chronic gastritis and that would really piss of my stomach lol
That's kinda where alternating heat and ice comes in. I have some topicals but it's minimal relief for a thing like this.
Hopefully it should clear up once my immune system isn't mad 😂

Heat & Ice are definitely the best chemical-free methods for helping to reduce swelling for sure! Gastritis is no joke either. Another thing that helps me is a chiro “pillow” (a misnomer, really) that helps reset my lower back, but only used properly.

I’m reasonably sure my wife hurts from the damage from her vertebra burst fracture when she’s fighting off an illness. So anecdotally I’ll agree with the others who’ve answered. We just saw a pain management dr last week and he was explaining at length those nerves radiating out from spine.
