This is a good time for this thread for sure, as we head into the new year.

Sometimes the term "optimism" gives me the heebie-jeebies bc it's reminiscent of empty positivity. But real optimism demands action; cyncism enables comfortable distance.

I had to undergo a real mind shift the last decade or so. I didn't want to delude myself about how BAD things are or are going to get. But sitting around drinking as those things happened was... Not a productive use of my time. And I lost some good years in there where I could have done more I loved
